Are there tricks to brush size/qualities etc to make the erasing more accurate? How did you handle the parts where you overlap yourself and still get such good, clean edges? |
With each sucessive layer after the first one, I erased everything except the new person. Where there were straight edges I used the laso tool to select the areas I wanted to erase, everything else was freehand. I used a huge eraser to get the large areas in a single stroke or two, then changed to a very small brush size to get the detail. In a couple of spots my cut was really obvious so I used a very small blur tool to outline those areas and blend them better with the rest of the picture. The first stacked layer gave me fits until I got into my head precisely what I could erase and what I couldn't, then the rest went quickly.
Funny side note - the reflections on the table change with each person's position and clothing. That really threw me off in a couple of spots. lol |
I put the new image on top then masked off the stuff I didn't need. For me it was pretty easy because of the tablet. I really love that thing.

OK, got the light in the bucket. Shame it's only a 60 Watt. However, it seems like it works pretty well from me holding it up and pointing it at the white piece of posterboard I have taped to the wall.

As for lights, I'm going to cut a hole in a white bucket tonight and put a trashbag in front of it. Maybe that will help. Y'all would feel so sorry for me if you saw what I had for lighting right now. I have 2 table lamps, one light fixture in the dining room and one in the bedroom.
I'm also taking suggestions on how to sharpen my focus. It's a pain with the autofocus on the camera because I'm setting the focus at something that's not there, that's why it's always a bit off. At least I figured that much out today.
Also, Jimmy, if you're out there, I sent you a PM, since you're the master of the DTC-50. |
You are still better off in terms of lighting than I am LOL

A bump and an image to help anyone who is having focus problems.
I take a lot of SP's. Sometimes I am alone and other times I have company. I always do my set up and test shots first, using either another person or item in front of the camera. That way I can get my composition and settings right. I use the remote on all my SP's and either I will have someone hold the remote and press it when I say so(usually if I am too far from the camera or the pose is too complicated to get together in a matter of seconds)...or I will hold the remote myself. If I am doing an SP where the remote will be seen...then I set the camera to self timer and press the remote and drop it. This gives me 10 seconds to finish the pose and for the camera to stop any shake from the dropped remote.
With focus I usually use Autofocus. But there are occasions the camera has to hunt to much and doesn't grab the focus..in this case I set a subject (person or object) in front of the camera and do a manual focus....I note where they are positioned and then take over that spot.
Here is one example.

I thought I'd try a bit of low-light work for day 6. At a half second shutter speed, I think I'm pretty steady as a model :-)

I owe comments (lots of 'em) and a picture for Day 7, which I may or may not get to. First must go find food (hungry - didn't get lunch) THEN I'll settle back down to the task at hand.

Working on some new ideas. this would pass basic editing easily
this version wouldn't pass advanced but I think it is pretty cool.
hope you like them.

Did a slightly darker mids and shadows edit. But, I think I prefer the original edit.

On the way home i was listening to the radio playing recordings from the morning of Sept. 11. I will always remember that day.

Day 7 - Tobbaco Road
Fisheye with a 28-75mm? you need one of these...
One of those Dome Mirrors that they put up in the ceiling so people don't have collisions at blind corners...
they was throwing this one which is about 3ft across 2ft high out at work. These are very cool for bending stuff.

OK, who wants to critique the lighting in a couple of my photos with my new bucket/garbage bag/table lamp light kit? I don't want to post them up for everyone because there is NO PP on them at all. All I want is lighting comments, not focus or all that.
Thanks guys!!!!
