Really I am shocked by some of the PEA challenge results. The top seem way off from my voting, whereas the ones that I did vote high seemed almost universally to be crucified by the voting masses.
Here's some I thought deserved better

I'd be intersted to know why mine didn't do better.
Lots of great comments. I thought this one would score higher.
Any constructive feedback is appreciated and I promise not to turn it into a shouting match like some other threads recently.

I am at least glad that I had a ribbon winning idea. |

I was thinking that it is a brilliant concept, and I personally like the photo. But I agree with a comment you received after the challenge, regarding the "ick factor". People like 'pretty' shots, I guess, and while yours was technically and conceptually good, maybe it just wasn't appealing enough.. or have that "wow factor" (I've seen that sometimes in challenge entry comments, that's one of the things some people really look for that can be worth a point or two). |

I can so relate to this image (Oh the flashbacks) that I gave you an eight. If this had a kitchen appropriate background, it would have been my top pick. Nice work and thanks for my upcoming therapy session. I was running out of things to talk about ;-)

I appreciate the recognition! I think the reflections and the high key (some folks mentioned they couldn't see the whole glass) are what gave it a lower score. I do have a circular polarizer now so that will hopefully help the reflection problem in the future. Thanks again :)

Hey! Thanks for the mention - I'm asking the same question in a thread over here.
I appreciate it mist!

Thanks for the input everyone.
I hadn't really considered the "ick" factor all that much. I think most parents have a ick tolerance higher than non-parents. One nuclear diaper will do that!
As for the white background, I had debated about using the kitchen as a background. I received comments stating both they liked and didn't like the white background. My thought was, I wanted to go for the shock factor of getting hit in the face with the baby food, and the stark background enhanced that, that was the intent anyway.

I guess all these photos got pea-ed on by the voters :-)

I'd have thought I deserved better just for the bravery of showing peas in a luminous B/W conversion, but to be honest I knew it wasn't gonna fly... 35th ain't bad, I guess :-)

I was harsh to the ones in black and white except yours. Goes to show that even something I didn't want to are done well can win me over. Great job bear. |

I'm new to DPC, having entered my first challange, and didn't really think too much about the "ick" factor until too late. I know there were a number of things that I could have improved on with my photo, but I'm thinking that my score was a bit lower because it wasn't as nice to look at.

thanks for liking my peas shot. I was disappointed with 90th place myself. I had really hoped to score a 6 on this one.

I'm going to chalk up my 32nd place position to a bias against woodies:

That's just shocking! I had the 7th and 10th place entries pegged for ribbon territory (and I figured mine would be about 4th). |

I see no 'ick' factor here! I love the expression on her face - that mixture of shock and resignation;) |
