this is so depressing. it's one of my favourite pictures of the year, yet it's also the worst scoring by quite a lot. and even more yet, my pigs ear of a motion blur that i almost didn't enter because i thought it was badly done is racking up a jolly good 5.95. grr! i can't judge what people like. i'm rubbish! |

I'm with you BeeCee, I've had it with the challenges too for now and I'm taking my (second) break. I don't mind low scores as long as they're justified (by constructive comments), but my GlassII entry doesn't deserve a brown ribbon.
It got as low as 3.6, now it's 3.7 and no comment at all.
When voting myself, my lowest vote could be a 4 when I think the photo really sucks in one way or other (not often though), I never hand out 1s, 2s or 3s, because I take in consideration the effort the photographer took to make his/her shot the best way he/she could.
If I don't have time to vote properly and hand out comments here or there, I simply don't vote at all.

Just as I expected....it's not flashy, it's not wild with colours, but it IS a good photo. Just not for this crowd.

Rubbish, huh? My bokeh came in with an even lower score. I can understand why and I got comments to tell me if I didn't :). One comment though, showed an understanding of what I was trying to do with the picture. That's all it takes. |

| Why do I even look!!!! 4.370...and it's good. the people who vote this early are on dial up and they have old computers and half the keys are missing. They lost the 5,6,7,8,9 qnd 1 keys years ago and all they can do is vote 2,3, or 4. I feel sorry for these people, I don't know where they scape up the money for a digital camera:) |

Me? I'm very pleasantly surprised. Somewhere around 5.2 and I REALLY thought it would be in the 4's. But there's time for that... there's time. I won't lose hope... ;-) |
