We just love to bandy these stats around and compare. Here's one. What is your median percentile result in your challenges? (I picked median rather than mean because it's easier to come up with in people with lots of challenges)
How to compute: Take your # of entries entered and divide by two (if it's odd, round down). Arrange your entry results by percentile with the highest at the top. Count down by the number you came up with above (entry results divided by two). That's your median percentile. (In other words, 50% of your results are higher, 50% are lower).
Mine: 11 Challenges...90%ile |

well if I did it right (probably not) I entered just 21 so I counted down 10 and that images percentile is 50%. How weird that my middle picture finished in the middle of the challenge.
or 47% using Nitin's formula

(score info is 4.825 140/203 31%) - pretty pathetic but Still learning here! |

If its odd, round up.
E.g. If you entered 11 challenges, median would be (11+1)/2 = 6th.
Now you'll have 5 higher than median and 5 lower.
Rounding down would make it (11-1)/2=5th, which makes 4 higher and 6 lower.

Whoops, Nitin, you are right. I was trying give people the benefit of the doubt, but I guess you could do that with even # challenges (those people will have 1 less challenge above their median than below).
OK, I'll redo...
11 Challenges...87%ile
Jaywalk, I'd love that 6+ average score. I'm going to come close after the next two challenges (both 6.5+), so we'll see what it shows next week. |

Since I have entered 3 challenges, the median should be easy to figure :-)
I have 16%, 27% & 31% -> I guess this is improving right :-) |

Since they recalc'd, its now 32% ...Woohoo!! Improving already! |

78 challenges, 90th percentile
(I'm only on 105 members Favorite Photographers list though; just noticed Shannon is on over 250! WTG!)

3 challenges 84% -> 81% -> 77% (in order of entrance).
My percentile has dropped, but is inversely proportional to my score:
5.604 -> 5.899 -> 5.928
If this continues I'll get the brown with a score of 8.237 ...
Anyway: Median 81% |
