In this case, it is the colors, the purity of the 1st snow, the slope away from the pines, the early morning shadows, and the association with the birch tree that was planted when my second Irish Setter was just a pup (she would lay in its shade and it became "her" tree). The "depth" works as well, in my opinion.

A year ago I had varying success with taking pics of dragonflies with the little P&S camera I had. This summer I've been revelling in the greater control with focus I have. This is one photo I printed out and gave to the school I took the photo at.

I spent almost three hours taking photos at the city aquarium for the family challenge, marveling at the beautiful sea creatures and the family interactions!

This is when I first learned about the importance of ISO and horrible noise

This one, for the sheer difficulty of capturing the luminosity of those damned icecicles. I worked variations of this shot off and on for weeks last winter.

I have "better" pictures but I'm proud of this one.

Well mine changes frequently too, but right now my favorite shot is one I just took recently:

This is a shot that is very precious to me for obvious reasons and I was very glad it did so well in the "People II" challenge.

As for my own, my highest score is my fav as well.
It's precious because I shot it with my the thought of my father in my mind. My father, Gabriel Dinu, passed away last year after 3 months of struggleing a colon cancer. It was painfull for me as I was in China and couldn't go back to be by his side on this ultimate experiance of our lives...
The fact that the pic got me 2 prizes (on Imaging-resource and BetterPhoto)
made this photo even more precious as carried the story of my father.
