The theory goes that there are low-lifers out there who surreptitiously go around handing out 1s to bring down good pictures to enhance their own scores.

This thread pretty much proves that theory wrong. Review the images and you will see for yourself. Here is what you will find:

1-Look at any average image and you will see a nice bell curve distribution reflecting the diverse nature of this group with a few 10s at the top and a few 1s at the bottom. Two from this group:
...

2-Others you see will have more 1s than 10s, but their bell curve peaks BELOW 5 so that is what you would expect from a diverse group of voters. Example:

3-Others can be explained by a few voters having got fed up with seeing one to many pet, flag or kid pictures:
......

4-Then there are the ones that to a lot of voters do not appear to meet the challenge and get 1s as a result:
......

5-Of course, there are the controversial, some even good images that will always draw some 1s:
...

6-Then poor taste garners 1s:

7-There are images that get more 10s than 1s but nobody ever seems to question that! :)

8-You gotta expect a few 1s if you slam the good photographers :)

9-Few and far between you have an occasional image that makes you scratch your head and ask why:

So where are the trolls?

If you look closely you will see that in these examples there are usually just a couple more 1's than normal above the expected bell curve and in the ones that have a lot more it is usually pretty obvious why.

In short, there ain't no trolls!
(Btw, two of the images identified here were in my personal top 3 for the challenge)

For all the discussion the irony of it is that getting two or three 1's above the expected bell curve (That would be the trolls for those who have not been paying attention) has little or no effect on your final placing.

Trolls, even if they exist, are not significantly affecting your scores.

So... to put is nicely...

Stop complaining! :)

(That is not to say that was the intend of most who posted here because I don't think it was, but for those that do complain.)

Only 20 1's for this shot. Still had a decent average though.

Trolls are REAL!! They live under bridges or is it caves? Could be forests .... I dunno. ;-P

Anyhoo...Just for the record, I wasn't complaining when I started this thread. :-) I just find it so hard to give out a 1, that it makes me wonder what motivates others to give them out. I know everyone has their own tastes, likes and dislikes and we all have the freedom to do what we want when it comes to voting and thus is the joy of being a member of such a diverse group. Carry on....
