Don't worry. We will be providing all the details as soon as we have the states rounded up. It's easier for us to track if we do things at the same time rather than dribble the information out one at a time. :)

I would like to be added for Texas if you don't already have too many.

I am willing to serve as an alternate for the following states:

Arizona
Delaware
District of Columbia
Maryland
New Jersey
New York
Virginia

I am requesting alternate status since I think the photographers who live in those states should have priority.

I'm also available to shoot landmarks in any of those states (depending where in those states they are)

I think the photographer should reside in the state being represented in the photo.

And that is the goal wherever possible. :)

I'm not looking to preempt anyone, but simply to fill in gaps.

For what it's worth, I think this project would require that the photographer live in the state being represented. If there is one single photographer who shoots a state motto for a state other than where he lives, the entire project may as well be done by the first 50 photographers who want to shoot a state motto.

I find this project intriguing because of the fact that you may have 50 photographers from 50 states participating. If that's not the case, the overall value of the project, IMO, diminishes.

Fair enough.... though it's Lee and Clara's project, therefore their call.

No takers for South Carolina?

"While I breathe, I hope"

I can take South Carolina unless someone else volunteered.

I'm still about 20 photographers short of a full project. While I appreciate your concern, I do think it's a bit early to worry about it. :)

Please rest assured that Lee and I are working very hard to get the required photographers assembled. Due to the number and geographical restrictions it will take us longer to pull folks together. :)

We are not handing out shooting assingments until we have those photographers assembled. I know folks are excited- but because this is involving 50+ photographers at one time, it does require a bit more patience. :)

Lee and I both appreciate your enthusiasim. Come on gang! We need more states!

Couple of things,

You might want to post a list of who has what state and what states are still open.

Do you have to live (or previously lived) in the state to be the photog for that state?

Does the photo have to be taken in the state (silly question, but a lot of people may be thinking studio or set up shots indoors to match a state moto)?

I'm not a fan of the idea of having multiple people from each state shoot and then having someone select their favorite. I'm not going to make a special trip and spend a day shooting (unless it's a place I want to go or shoot anyway) just for a 1 in 5 chance for being part of this.
Note that you are also opening the door for a lot problems by selecting from a few shots. Some people will think theirs was the best of the 5 and a few will get upset if theirs wasn't chosen and cause a stink.
Picking one photographer per state will allow the project to be the vision of 50 different photogs. Having two people select from 250 photos will result in the project being the vision of just what the 2 selected.

Just my $.02. It's your show, run it how you want.

Tranquil - I see that other members have volunteered for all the states that I offered to help with if needed (including my home state of NY), so I'll happily bow out to let others keep their spots.

Please remove me from the list, thanks ...

Greetings,
Pardon my slowness in responding, it's cold up here in northern NEW HAMPSHIRE, and email travels slower when the lines are frozen

I can't believe no one has signed up for the Garden State... I'll represent NJ. But in the middle of December i might have to settle for an exit sign or something. Will have to start thinking about this one... Let me know if you need me for New Jersey. Sounds like a great project!
