Ok, thanks everyone for the critique and constructive criticism on my Day 1 image. I adjusted my processing a little to keep more of the grain and reduce the overly soft look.

might be changing my subject for the month coz the images i wanted to work on from around 2004/5 are too small to do anything much with .. only realised today .. :)
ps. sorry i'm up to 6 posts already but i've been sick and cant do much else than photoshop .. promise i'll get better soon .!!. :)

I had a similar problem with my photos prior to 2004. In addition to crazy noise, I was pretty clever back then and resized my photos to about 450px on the long side so they'd take up less space on my hard drive. Sigh...

Whooops, I don't get started on this project for a day or two and look what happens! Pages of fun images to enjoy.

Okay, here's my addition to the mix. My theme is Experimental and notes + originals will always be in the 'notes' section of the image.

This is spiraea japonica - nobody's favourite but it fills a gap in the border and apparently it contains the same pain killing chemicals as the willow. This one has pink flowers and good bronze foliage in summer.
