I've been taking advantage of sales and coupons, and I now have quite a nice set of my prints on Canvas for shows. They really come out beautiful, and printing on canvas is my favorite way to display now (and saves the cost/trouble of framing too). I have used Canvas On Demand exclusively for the canvas prints so far, and they've been great. But I have a certificate for $100 at MPix and I will probably use that for a canvas or a standout, since it all has to be used at once. So now I have to pick another one of my prints that would make a good canvas (or a standout). Also, I joined BlackRiverImaging, and they give you $50 to spend in your first month, so I thought I'd try one there two.
But I'm running out of "favorites" that are shoe ins for prints, so I thought I'd ask for help! I'll post the ones I'm thinking about in a minute, but I want to post this message now, so I don't lose all the work putting in the thumbnail numbers.
Here's what I have so far:

Ok, going through what I have, here are some options. Remember, think too that the final "set" will be in a show together eventually (well no large shows on the near horizon, but later, hopefully).
Some of my remaining "favorites" that might make good canvases:
Possible Standout Print:
Of course, if you see something else here, it's always possible. Those are the set of prints I've made and have at least an 11x14 proof. And these are planned prints

I can Google it, but others may want to know as well - what is a Standout Print?
Nice shots to choose from! I'm trying to decide which one of mine to do on canvas just to try, but I haven't made up my list of one to choose from yet. :-) |

Nice images Neil! I've always wanted to try some of my images on canvas and have looked at MPix and WHCC but not Canvas on Demand - glad to hear you are happy with the quality of CoD and will be interested to hear how you like MPix. I really like "In Van Gogh's Garden" and if you don't have any florals, it might be nice to add one to your set and see the response. I also like "Overture" and "Blue Bayou" - are they slightly tilted to the left or is that just the contour of the land? Either one should look great on canvas. I really like your portfolio of images and if you wouldn't mind giving some advice, I'd like to PM you when I'm ready to send something in to be printed on canvas. Good luck with your sales! |

No time now Neil but I promise I'll have some later. Superb images btw. They inspire me into buying this lens that I've had my eye on for quite some time now. I don't own a wide enough lens to do the landscape or interior shots I want to.

A standout print is a regular print mounted on a wooden (or pressboard) "standout", like this:
//www.mpix.com/Product.aspx/standouts
The one's I've done so far are only 3/4" thick...the ones they show are 1.5" and more prominent.

Overture does look like it would make a nice canvas; but in Blue Bayou's favor, I do already have two canvases of that same "view" (though different weather!) And in both their favor, they are local spots, so good for local shows.
BTW, RE the tilt, you are not the first to ask...it might be, but I don't think so, I do usually use a bubble level on my camera. I think it might be an illusion of the perspective. But I wonder if I print that to canvas or standout if I'll begin to regret not straightening it perceptually!
On canvas, I have two abstract florals, but that's it. So maybe Van Gogh's garden might be good.
Thanks for the input. I'd be happy to help in return...just PM me or post when you have a question.
