Seriously ... DPC is starting to get in the way of some priorities I need to make at home for a while.
But, I'm not going away. Sorry, can't get rid of me that easy. :-) I'll still enter challenges, just not EVERY ONE of them!
I'm addicted. Can't quit cold turkey. :-P
It will be interesting to see how the Ribbon Race plays out. I'd put my money on Larry, but Mark is the dark horse. :-O

And don't count me out just yet :) |

I would never count you, or roz, out.
You know me, I like to stir things up once in a while. :-D |

Now you've done it, Barry. You've gone and poked the shark. |

i think you can rest on your laurels Barry .. you could probably stay ahead of all of us just entering the occasional challenge now .. :)
and me ... i dont understand why i've been doing so well in this ribbon race .. as there are so many much better photographers here than me ..
if Mark and Larry .. dont beat me then there's something very awry with the universe ..
and if Anita or Wendy enter more challenges i reckon they'll give you guys a run for your money . !! .. ;) |

Last post in 1st place. :-) Have one more left in voting, nothing in the tank after that. Good luck!
p.s. - rooting for you Larry (you have the crazy, creative streak). :-) Sorry Lev and Roz - nothing personal. :-P

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the compliment Barry. Honestly I am not that interested in competing with anyone but myself. I really enjoy challenging myself with coming up with ideas for the challenges. So let the dice fall where they will. I̢۪m hoping that after missing 1 or 2 challenges you will give in to your addiction and continue to enter the challenges and display your outstanding photographic skills! If that is not the case Lev, Roz, and Mark are so talented I would not be surprised if anyone of them got the Blue.

Last month of the 2024 Unofficial ribbon race. It will end (as usual) with the Free Study (2024-12). Have fun!
Edit: "Shallow DOF XII" also counts, since it ends on the same day as the Free Study

I'm enjoying the epic fight for the third place between GolferDDS and markwiley. They are killing almost every challenge lately, and clearly this race will not be resolved until the very last challenge. Bravo guys! |

I'll do a recalculation of the whole year soon, just to be sure that I didn't missed something (I hope not) |

Larry is going to be the death of me. I have been eyeing third place for a while (knowing I had no hope to catch you or Barry). I clawed my way to within 2 points of Larry at the start of December. Then, I put up my best moth ever (in terms of Ribbon Race points) only to see Larry nearly match me point for point. I am barely ahead of him, but I suspect he'll leap frog me for the ribbon by close of voting tomorrow. |

I've had to check the math a couple of times before taking a deep breath on holding 2nd. :-) If you had another week I'd be toast. You guys are on fire!
Agree with Lev ... been fun to watch! |

At the beginning of October I thought I had a chance at 3rd but both Mark and Roz were closing in. There was no doubt that either one or both would pass me if they put their minds to it being the outstanding photographers they are. Mark has more blue ribbons by far than anyone else and Roz has had the highest average of anyone over 100 entries. I was somewhere back in the pack. My only advantage up to that point was that I was entering almost every challenge. Roz has not entered as many challenges lately and Mark had begun to enter more. I realized I was going to have to push myself to even have a chance. No one was going to catch Lev or Barry. I really appreciate that Mark has pushed me to try to raise the bar on my photographic technique and composition. It has been a lot of fun. Looking at his skill and talent as a photographer has been a real learning experience for me as I am sure it has been for everyone else. Thank you Mark! Regardless of who accumulates the most points this has been my favorite of all of my 22 years on DPC :). By the way, Mark, I think you've got me beat!

Which makes sense if you consider that you can collect points for every finish in the top 10 ;-)
Especially if participation is often around 20 you should be able to collect points on a regular basis.
To be at the top is a different matter though. That requires not only a lot of entries but also consistent high finish. Dedication and quality, all the time !!! |

In Firefox the collapsed vertical scroll bar is virtually invisible -- I didn't see it, especially since I was looking more at the edge of the page display where I'd expect it.
I find those "hidden" scroll bars an abomination ... this is what I see when I open the link:
