In another year of Covid restrictions and the trials and tribulations of everyday life DPC has been a haven for creativity, personal growth and enjoyment. I have a lot of gratitude to all the members who contributed during the year not only by submitting their own creations but also commenting, voting and participating in discussions on the forums. It has become a routine to check the DPC webpage during the day to see what is new. I appreciate the work that the Site Council does to maintain law and order(!) and the effort that it takes to keep the site up and running with interesting and exciting challenges. As always Bear and Kirbic have taken the reins and pointed us in the right direction. Henk's contributions are undeniably a generous gift of time and effort in keeping us interested from month to month and year to year. There are so many amazing photographers on this site it has been a joy to see and learn from each and every challenge that brings to the surface the talents of everyone participating. Thank you all for another truly enjoyable year!

Your Unofficial Points and Ribbons Race is one of my favorite parts of DPC!

Thank you Larry and Wendy and Lydia and Roz (and the rest of the field) for being strong but gracious competitors, you've cheered me up more than once last year. Thank you Henk-Jan for letting us play this silly but fun game! It kept pushing me to go out and shoot and enter, and while I am happy to have won, I am a little sad that the year is over. There was a long stretch when I only entered a few times a year, either in a Free Study or when a photo taken on one of my trips that would accidentally fit a challenge. Last year (in spite of mostly staying put at home): 128 entries! I only hope my newfound eagerness to shoot for DPC does not evaporate once the competition is over. Here's to UPPR-2022! ))

Donât worry Lev you donât have the option to evaporate. I took too much time off last year and Iâm definitely out to get you this year!1 :D

Iâm just starting out with some low scores to give you that sense of comfort before I crush you. ;P

If I donât, Iâm sure Larry will!

Congrats to Lev for an absolutely massive and well deserved win! And way to go, Larry! I wasnât able to catch you in the end, but Iâll try to not let it happen again. :)

I wonât mention Lydia or Roz in this post, because I know they can beat me â but I certainly donât want them to know â so donât tell them I said so.

But huge thanks to Henk so many times this has kept me going at the end of the year, no matter where I am in the list. Itâs so easy to say âIâll just start again next year. Lifeâs too busy in November and december. Now we just need to Implemt a â1/2 year front runner awardâ, so I donât slack off in the summer

LOL @ Wendy. I heard you. :D

I decided a few months before the end of '21 that I was just going to play... to enter what I wanted and nothing more. This was quite new to competitive Lydia! LOL!

I thoroughly enjoyed it!

So, I'm gonna do it again this year! I'm quite pumped about it!!

Go, Wendy! Fly! Conquer!! Your new camera has spurred you on to new enthusiasm. I love that.

I will be happy with a top ten, if that happens. 4th-10th get the same prize after all...

Btw. For those how like ranking lists there's a new one at https://unofficialdpc.hajeka.com/points

Still experimental. Something like the ribbon race, but everyone is on the list. Number last gets 1 point and so on. So the points for a ribbon are depended on the number of entries and submitting entries pays off.

Thanks, Henk-Jan. I kept on getting error 500 this morning so now I know why :) It will certainly motivate us to get out and shoot or to relive the past going through our archives.

Two different lists being referenced here. One has 128 on it, the other has 206. I like the 128 one better as it's the same format as prior years.

For those who haven't discovered it -- remember there's a newer version of points and ribbons that give soooooo many cool tabs. Highest average, total points, free study race, extended free study race.

Hajeka did such an awesome job on it, you need to check it out!

Closing? It's closed! I think it's mathematically impossible for me to catch her in the remaining two weeks. All major networks would now project Neat to take the third spot, so I am conceding. Good job Anita!

On the same general topic, note that jcar is maybe cracking the top 10, putting serious late-season heat on his once-invincible mom, and *I* have made the top 10 for the first time ever, although that's mostly due to attrition I think :-(

Yeah check out what he's doing in the free study and extended free study races! Those are what's worrying me!

Note that the 2022 Ribbon Race will end with the results of the Free Study for December, 2022. The 2023 Ribbon Race will start after that, so new chances for everyone.
