OMG! I have just sat down at the computer with my morning cup of coffee and I cant believe what I'm seeing, I never, ever expected that result. Thanks all for your votes.
Congratulations to all the other winners, and in my eyes that includes everyone who participated, as everyone has done a super job.
Thanks again Tate and Lydia for the effort you have put into this. It's been a fun and inspirational SC. and I hope we get to do it again. |

A few images that deserve a little extra applause IMO:
a dreaming camera - possibly a metaphor for us ...
A simple yet beautiful edit that brings us back in time.
Exactly what the original image needed. I do believe my jaw dropped when I saw this one.
Yes I loved BB but this is more than that. Layers of depth, fun and creativity.
I'm a little biased toward Mrs. Unibrow - but I just love this take - peaceful and fun.
DAHYUM!
Agree with Lydia this was a standout:

Here are my top five picks from the wonderfully creative edits on my boring original image:
#1 Tanguera I love the moon... and those birds! Just seems to fit perfectly and balance out the photo. Thank you, Johanna.
#2 wbanning I actually cringed at how awful this was while it was loading (our internet stinks). But, by the time I got to the whale... I was in love! Ha! So perfect! Thank you, Bill, for making this art out of my lame image.
#3 Roz I feel like I'm there! I can feel the splash in the air. I love this, Roz! So real that I fear for the people's safety. Thank you !
#4 thrumyiis I love hot air balloons, so this one had a head start, Janine! So fun... I love the realness of capturing it "imperfectly" with the sun in your way. Thanks bunches for your edit!
#5 westford I really enjoy how this looks like it was taken with film ... a long time ago. Perfectly done, Wendy! Thank you for editing it!

My thoughts on the rest of your edits (in no particular order):
by Tate: This is so.. "out there", Tate, that I didn't know what to think about the pixelatedness. But, that frame being in focus, blew me away. I think yours gets the Most Creative Award from me.
by Marnet: Margaret, you definitely get the Most Research Award! Gee Golly! If it weren't for my face, I would LOVE this even more than I do! It didn't make my top five because I couldn't see the original as much, but I am amazed at your hard work to create this! The toads and frogs make me smile... you've arranged them so charmingly. :D
by georgesbogaert: Your lighting is amazing, Georges! It changes the entire scene into some place much more pleasing that even being there! Ha! It also brings out my sensor dust bunnies... *sigh* Thanks for reminding me. Ha! You get the Lighting Award.
by RKT: Golly, Rachel! This is so realistic! I battled in my head over and over between this and my top five. I'm so glad that Tate called your edit out as wonderful. I agree with him. Thank you for it! You deserve the Most Realistic Award.
by crik: I'm really diggin' the psychedelic rocks, crik! So fun and interesting to imagine after being there in real life. Well done and I thank you! My "Rethink my Life Award" is yours.
by art roflmao: I laughed out loud when I saw this, Ken! So fun. "Beam me up, Scotty!" Ha! And the stuff in the sky makes me think this all happened long ago... I feel so sorry about that guy. He never saw it coming. Yours is the "SCI-FI Award". Thanks for the laugh and the work.
and... last (but certainly not least)...
By jomari: I bow to your excellent sun flare skills, Marion! I am in awe. You're so GOOD at being BAD at capturing the sun without flare. Ha! If it weren't for the birds, I think your edit would have been in my top picks. They don't ring "true" to me... with that fabulous job of the sun flare. I love it all, of course, so you get the "Most Realistic Environment Award".

If it was hard choosing top 5 out of the edits of my shot, it was darned near impossible picking 3 for people's choice. So many great images. Picking out three is insane.
1st: by Art Roflmao
2nd: by tanguera

My choices for my image:
#1 a very nice combination of Switzerland and Australia
#2 it would be nice if Lake Geneva had sea waves
#3 sometimes it looks almost like that
#4 not entirely impossible as the lake is very deep
#5 for the out of scale sensation
My choices overall:
No matter how much I liked many other images I cannot stop envying Mark for his ability to create such stunning composite:
I like moody images so the creature from the black lagoon gets #2:
and I couldn't pass the hilarious composites from Ken for #3:

This was all super interesting.
I could not rank my favorites since I was busy in my food world on a different SC.
The only suggestion that I have for the future is to mention if the pp will fall into an exercise about the original image or an extended processing including other images etc.
Congrats to all participants! |

That's a good point, Mariuca. It was stated in the rules at the beginning:
(3) There are no editing restrictions. You can use any images, text, or artwork to embellish the original image. You can do a simple color and crop adjustment or clip a piece of the image and put it into another scene and create a movie poster out of it - or anything in-between. Don't be afraid to go wild or exceed expectations. Keep in mind that we are all DPChallenge members so keeping in the spirit of the site will likely get better results.
But, that was three threads ago and folks might have lost that along the way. We should post it again each time so folks know what to expect.

My picks on my image
tanguera Loved the colours and the rich processing, almost has a glow to it and I'm a sucker for a sunset.
marnet Really lovely painting effect Margret, you do this so well. I think it suits the subject very much.
art roflmao Very clever and well executed edit, puts you right there in the story.
rkt I liked the vintage feel. The tones and textures were all perfect.
wbanning Great idea and processing to match.
My overall picks:
tanguera I was drawn to the crisp detail in the linen sleeve in contrast with the soft painterly effect of the skin
roz I thought this fit together so well, both composition and processing. looks like a real family portrait from another
time. (maybe they didn't have money for a bassinet)
art roflmao This was jam packed and all so cleverly put together.

If I do this again, I will create a "PPChallenge rules" page or something and link to it regularly.
I was fortunate in that work/life was a bit slow during much of this challenge but life did get busier which cut into my editing time - so I'll need to be a bit more efficient next time.
Lydia, you were a great help keeping helpful and active on the forum - thanks!
