Mike, Forgive me if I sound a little off-color; but I bet even Jesus would admit that REFORMATION does not work, but we all know if you want results, at a cost, go for a REVOLUTION. The nature of the broken man, sorry educated man, is just not so willing to fight for what is theirs anymore. After all, you are just losing your ultimate freedom, the freedom of privacy. |

NSA Mission Statement (quoted directly from their .gov site)
"The Mission Never Sleeps
The mission of the National Security Agency (NSA) and its military component, the Central
Security Service (CSS), is focused on saving lives, defending vital networks, and exploiting
the foreign communications of adversaries."
I'm sure they have many mission statements and arm badges to go with them, that are not for public
consumption. An interesting organization. For me the IRS scandal is much more important than all the NSA
problems. The NSA won't be running ObamaCare. I believe the public should seek the elimination of personal income taxes for people making less than 10 million US pegged yearly to inflation. Replace it with a VAT with generous exemptions to keep the working poor from being caught up in regressive tax like a VAT. Most of the IRS employees could then seek more meaningful employment in the Government or private sector. Tax prepares could concentrate on wealthy people and business. The huge amount of time saved by taxpayers could be used in the pursuit of happiness. :)
I did find theseRay: //www.museumsyndicate.com/images/5/40755.jpg

At the very bottom is NSA in very small letters.

There are 100 senators in congress. Obviously, it's a typo. The actual vote was 55-44.
eta: And also obviously, someone failed to vote.

I believe the vote was actually 54-44; two Republicans did not vote. |

They need to go ahead and defund the un-afordable healthcare act. It is too expensive for the nation. We need to make cuts not increase costs. Also we do not need to raise the debt ceiling until MAJOR cuts are made.
eta: After de-funding it we need to repeal it. Hopefully it hasnt done too much damage

It might prove interesting to see just what damage is incurred if both parties stand their ground. I would imagine that things like mortgages, loan interest and a few others would soar through the roof.
As for Obamacare, how has anyone managed to state for a fact that it is un-affordable... does anyone have empirical evidence to support this argument.
Regarding this statement: "Also we do not need to raise the debt ceiling until MAJOR cuts are made" I would suggest that even minor cuts to the military would achieve this, as would cutting out a lot of the "pork barrelling" that seems so prevalent in the USA.
Let's face facts Cowboy221977, the brand of politicians in the USA are no different than those in other countries in that they serve their own interests and those of the lobbyist, and the general population is kept in the dark, fed bullshit and left to fend for themselves... as if we were a collective of mushrooms. :O)

I believe in getting rid of the pork as well..
back on obamacare
if this law is soooo great and affordable, why is it that Congress has opted out, or how about the unions, or how about companies either slashing hours or laying people off or how about doctors that own their own practices having to sell to larger hospitals or retire. I have watched my priemiums go up as well as my deductible triple. If I need to use my insurance I wont be able to afford to pay my deductible. So I ask again why is this law geat.

...and would you reserve that treatment for the poor unemployed stiffs in America or would you also include those companies living off of corporate welfare and leaching of of the taxpayers?

And yet the ultimate goal of corporations is to maximize shareholder profit by "increasing productivity" which is to make the same money with fewer employees. Maybe if the people with the money ("job creators") were to create jobs which paid more than welfare we could do something about it.
Someone working full-time for the Federal minimum wage would gross (not take-home) $290/week or $1247/month -- in the Bay area, the average rent for a studio apartment runs pretty much a little bit more than that ($1276.36)*, so as long as a person (with no kids) doesn't have to eat, drink, use the toilet, make a phone call or turn on the lights and heat the place, and can somehow teleport themselves to work without using a car or the bus, I guess they'd be all set.
Of course, out here the legislature here has taken some note of the problem, and within another two years the State-mandate MW will be all the way up to a whopping $10/hour ($1720/month), despite the protests of the "business community" ... what kind of society is it where you can work full-time and still be in poverty, while the person you work for makes seven or eight figures?
* I averaged the average rent for a studio in the 22 communities listed here: Where can you afford to live in the Bay Area |

you said it right there. If they are working and still need assistance ok. Howevr if they choose to sit at home while drawing a check (there is alot of hat out there) give them a job to do. They wouldnt be good jobs necessarily but they would be helping to improve our cities (beuification projecs, sewer repairs, cleaning out ditches, etc.)
