However, as I am obviously posting, I enjoy the threads just as much as everyone else.

I view DPC like golf. If I am doing well against my own work as a whole, and improving, then I don't worry about what my photo "deserves". Not that I haven't been surprised by a low score or two, but that just means there is something I am not yet seeing in an artistic sense.

kichu, thanks for the most excellent comment! I'm still sub-5, but now much happier. Glad you liked it. I do, too!
Edit to add that I'm totally sucking with respect to my own work, the site average, my average, and common decency. I'm good with that.

Only if you teach me first! Just imagine -- with my bird knowledge and your street knowledge, we could do birds in the street!!

Drat! You already do that well. This is still one of my all-time favorite shots:

Maybe we can do street squirrels? :D

 Watch.

That's it. Just watch. The more you watch, the more you'll see. Snapping is just a small part of it all. It's the watching that matters.

Now how can I get a decent B&W shot??

Thats my problem. I don't watch enough. I can see in my mind and then create to a certain extent, but man I wish i had the gift of seeing what is already there. Though I thought I did that with this challenge. 4.95 baby! Climbing up toa 5 - which has me actually a bit bummed. I was sort of cool with this image possibly being my new PW. I am not in love with my current PW but this one I am so enjoying.

		| | I don't "create". With the exception of my recent limes. Those I created! I planned, I placed, I shot! I didn't light - nature did that. But I did "create!" Not in street shooting, though. I can't see "creating" anything for that. It just "is".
But I'm derailing the thread, and I do apologize. I now return you to your regularly scheduled whining for those who are not performing as hoped, and bragging for those who are. :-)

 Carry on!

I watch, but I can't figure out how to capture. The best street shots seem to be shot from a low vantage point. When I crouch down to take the shot, I'm so much more noticeable, and I can't even come close to shooting from the hip. I've tried. I'm pitiful. I'm getting better at seeing things, but I can't capture them. :(

 6.34 so looks like it.
I'm really sorry... it wasn't intentional.

		| | LOL! I'm short. That explains my vantage point. :-) I'm also quite invisible most of the time. I go unnoticed for the most part, other than by dogs and children. And annoying rent-a-cops in malls and downtown LA.
But speaking of being noticed by children, check out
  muur88's "13" entry. |

haha!! I missed that part of the photo. :)

I'm too noticeable, I guess. Unless I have a long lens and hide behind something. Though I'm short, too. :)

There's still time. That's usually my m.o. when playing cribbage with my brother. Let him be ahead the entire time and then pass him at the very end. :P

Yeah. Sure 0.06 is nothing at this stage anyway. It could be a close one... can't draw too many conclusions from 1 day.
