I'm off work for the holidays so I've had time to upload a bunch this week. All rejected:

Not surprised, but I've been submitting my ribbon winners because I have an aim for this year to get a ribboning image accepted there.

Not surprised - not strong enough.

Not too surprised - a bit dull in retrospect

A bit surprised = I've done well there with nudes, this is probably as good as others. I wonder if the sharpness of her eye was problematical, or the highlight on her left breast.

I thought this was the strongest of the bunch.

BTW, if you have a submission ready for 1x, but currently in voting here, how long to most of you wait to post the image for screening? I usually wait for the last day of voting.

I'll usually wait until the last day of voting here. Haven't submitted there for over a year, though. Haven't visited for a long time either - how are things there these days?

tried different things, but have been roundly rejected lately

and another reject...

Did anybody notice that the current large photo on the front page is a Ken Rockwell? Hmmm, 1x has now jumped the shark.

Would have done well in the 'Unbalanced' challenge i'd say. There is a lovely, slightly unnerving tilt to it i like.

BTW, they cut off the top part of the original photo, which made is significantly worse, IMO.

That's for laughs, right? There isn't a photo in this entire thread that isn't more interesting.

I haven't even tried in almost 10 months. Guess it's time to try again....

Seeing this thread reminded me to submit yet again. So far I've had one image published and ten rejections. So it's about time to get number two...

I'm all very new to this, but what's special about 1x? Why the desire to have images accepted there? Why this particular website?

"because it's there"? :)

seriously, since the photos there are heavily screened, the quality is uniformly very high, and so the visitors traffic is huge. This site gives your photos unrivaled visibility, I have an average of 20,000 views per image. Compare that to DPC or any other photo sharing sites.

Is it purely for visibility and exposure, or to sell prints?

One translates to the other :). They are planning to introduce print sales, similar to DPCprints I guess, but haven't started that yet. But indirectly it definitely can lead to sales or other opportunities. Happened to me a few times.

Would you be providing a link to another site for prospective viewers to go to purchase a print?
02/11/2011 02:41:29 PM · #2170
Right. I guess you can put such a link in the details section under every image, if you wish. I usually don't, but there is a link to my website from my profile page.

Have a look for yourself. The work here is nothing short of phenomenal. It's not easy to get published on this site. But a basic membership is free and allows you to submit one image per week.
