Essentially, my first macro. 100 % crop. It was windy and I was doing these (and all those that follow) hand held, outside, as dusk was approaching. Had to move fast.
I didn't use a flash at this point.

Ok, now I'm realizing that I'm going to have to use a flash. Still hand holding, I took these series:

Got bored, so I moved to the front yard:

Now, time for some fun. Two versions, the first has some slight curves adjustment, the second has been tone mapped lightly. These are of a Rhododendron stem.

Its now dark outside and I can't focus at this close range. So I went inside and looked around for things to photograph. All I came up with was this banana (which I'll eat tomorrow) and a dead fly.
I was also getting quite tired at this point, so this is where I stopped. Tomorrow, I hope to go out a bit more and try some more shots!
I LOVE THIS LENS! WOW!
Thanks for the suggestion Robert!!!!!

not sure about PP work on these or sharpening. Just quickly imported than exported from Lightroom. I'll re-edit when I get home. Having so much fun doing other stuff on vacation have only took the macro lens out once and for 15 minutes. These are two of the 12 photos I took before I put it up.

Found this cool orange bug and a plant out in the yard. There were actually a bunch of them but there were two on a plant I had not planted yet. So I was able to spin the the plant around to get a bunch of photos no matter where they went. Could not decide which one I like the best so posting 4 for your enjoyment.
The first one is a small crop to get it to look right (had to do it square to keep the rule of thirds going on). The other three are full frame.

Day 17
I totally win the prize for finding the weirdest bug :-) So far.
Have to say this has turned out to be a very educational side challenge. Turns out many of those tiny bits of debris in my garden are actually bugs! |
