Maybe when this is all done we could (with everyone's permission) stitch all the small squares into a "crazy quilt" collage to print, somewhat along the lines of the DPC 1000th Challenge Collage prepared by SDW ... |

I like GeneralE's suggestion. This collection of ours would make a splendid collage.
Here are a couple more from me. They came from Challenge entries...
turned into "The Vault"
turned into "A Touch of Glass"
Okay, here's one more.
to the original add Topaz Simplify and Levels adjustments to get:
Okay, these things are like peanuts. Here's another:

That's a great idea. I wonder if we could take it a step further by combining the images in such a way that they actually form another picture. |

I forget the name of it, but I'm pretty sure there's a program which does this for you ... but then we'd have to vote on what the final image would be ... ;-) |

Well, stung by the accusation that what is going on here isn't really photography ;) (who knows??) I decided for the first time to take a photo just for the purpose of making a flip/rotation/blend image. So I put a spoon on the rug and took this very artisitc image (OK, so its not so artistic.):
Unfortunately, I wasn't able, as Ansel Adams says one must, to visualize the final image at the time I made the exposure. Anyway, I ended up with this...
It got this way after I blurred the inital image, then did the ususal flip-difference routine and then added a 45 degree, 22.5 degree, and the 11.25 rotation. I mostly used difference for the blend, but used exclusion, which looked a little better, in the 22.5 layer.
Now it is photography, right?? |

Another one from the outdoor skating rink:
I've got quite a few ready for my website now. I'm in the process of adding a mouseover so you can see the original. Hopefully before the end of the month I'll have the pages up and way I want them. I've started themes so I can group images from similar sources together.
So far the emerging themes are:
Outdoor rink (I have at least 40 of these). Lot's of fodder to play with.
Cars/vehicles (just started playing :D)
Birds
And something different:

Here are three that are based on images taken from my collection of industrial microscopy images:
ETA: These have been uploaded at 1600px; be sure to check out the full size images.

Standard flip 'n blend, difference, with the final result duplicated and blended in mode "linear dodge", and the result desatted with hue/sat.

.....
The originals are from the Detroit Airport. On the first one, I experimented w/shifting the pixels, taking them out of register w/the next layer, following the lead of cpanaioti (again). Thanks for the idea! The flattened jpg was just under 20MB & the detail was just amazing. The second one is a standard flip'n'blend (we have a standard?!)
Re the notion that this isn't Photography--It seems that this PP would not make it into any challenge. I asked SC & they said No. So, that seems to mean this is not Photography, at least not on this site. And yet this is the first side challenge I've participated in where so many photographers are uploading the full size file because it's so amazing. Not only that, but what about GeneralE's idea of stitching all these into a digital quilt? I've never seen that happen in a side challenge, either. It would be huge! And how would we know when to stop? Could we?

original: end:
rotated 90° then flipped, etc. made new layer of red, placed it under my new design and offset part of the design, placed a stroke around the offset.
This is a variation of what Colette introduced a day or two ago.
