Sometimes borders show up within the square and sometimes around the entire image and sometimes both.

The purple of the flower in the original came thru almost unchanged (this time).

This one created little windows of detail and the bird was pretty much untouched except for a little colour shift.

And a couple more car shots:

and something completely different (than these)

Trying something with lettering on it... This is a sign I photographed inside "Honest Ed's" in Toronto a couple years ago, and the result:

Here's a 4x4 tiling of the "Honest Ed" image with two other 4x4 tilings superimposed on it. I did this by putting each tiling on a separate layer so that I could then experiment with changing the blending mode and opacity of each tiled layer. This creates a tiling of incredible flexibility. There are loads of variations possible.

Both pieces were flipped from an out-take from the Powerlines challenge: The first one was desaturated and has an H.R. Geiger feel to it. The 2nd image has additional 45 degree flips and has extra saturation. So many variables available!

There is some exciting stuff in this thread.

Two produced from the same photo. The difference was that for number 3 I used the whole photo and cropped afterwards, while for number 4 I cropped an off-centre square first.

I'm not succeeding but I still had fun with this one.

Heh! I figured it out. Here's another one.

My name is Dave, and I'm a Flip and Blend addict. OK, in less than 24 hours I've gone from no idea how to do this to having the steps memorized. Everytime I do one see another that I need to do right away. Here's an ant-

xakpeet suggested replacing the center with a sky as if your looking upward though a 3-D effect toward the sky. Here is the result.

I'm addicted! Here are a select few:

I couldn't resist the sky suggestion. :)

Or you get interlopers...

Or use the centre as a frame:

Not the best masking job but you get the idea.

Hi all, you've lured me in. And I present to you my very first try. Not the greatest ... but I do like the delicacy of this entry.

and here is the original

Old Quaker Meeting House, perfectly symmetrical shot, same as:

Except a version where the top was not cropped off. It was so symmetrical that when I flipped it horizontally there were no ghosts at all. Amazing for hand-held. Anyway I did some hard light blending, then got this incredibly complex and bright image, then cut out the center and stuck the whole thing, scaled down, back in the center. If knew how to post a full-size one, I would.

From this original all of the following,

I'm sure I could amuse myself for longer with the same image, but time to move on.

Ah, well, Xmas break is over, back to work, LOL. I'm on business travel from today through Thursday, so I'll probably be absent for most of that time. I probably will get the itch to do some, and the image collection on my work computer should provide some interesting fodder. Mostly microscope work with industrial samples. Hmmm...
