Recently create a thread discussing the need for a more consistent Expert challenge, from the outcome we've decided that an Expert side challenge was needed to demonstrate what the folks at DPC are capable of.

So I'm creating an Expert side challenge and would really like to get a great show of hands to see who is interested. If this is successful then I'll look to create a monthly Expert side challenge in the attempt to demonstrate the need for it to become part of DPC more often.

The details are:
Expert rules
Theme: "Escape" - anything that demonstrates escaping.
Deadline: Monday 12th Jan (due to the holidays I thought we'd go with 2 weeks for those not available and also as this skill set will be new to some I thought we should give a little more time than than the usual 1 week)

This will be interesting to follow. I might throw in an image or two now and then.

Because it's a side-challenge I know that it'll be impossible to really keep a handle on things, but what I hope is that people don't try and go too over-board and we're suddenly seeing all kinds of clip-art crazy stuff, but that's just me and to each their own. I just want to see some really good *photography* that is enhanced by not having strict editing placed on it, so hopefully we'll see more of that.

Sounds like the proposed side challenge is a one-entry side challenge - not a one per day?

You're using the word "entry" so does this mean you'll be picking a winner? Normally side challenges are just photo journals where people post a photo a day based on a very general theme. Obviously you can run yours the way you want but just thought I bring that up given the possible confusion.

Thanks Yanko. To clear things up, one entry per person, there will not be a winner just a showcase of work within Expert mode which DPC folks can comment on. I'd rather not be the judge seeing as I'm entering something too ; )

shetland .. i love this idea .. it gives me something to work towards .. a goal .. rather than pumping out one a day, some very ordinary, i'll be trying to create something special .. (and dont get me wrong .. my photography and processing has improved enormously from the side challenges and posting one every day .. ) ..
so thanks for the motivation .. and escape is a great theme .. it will be very interesting to see wot ppl come up with .. :)

edit.. so our deadline for 'escape' is 12th jan ...
are you going to have another theme and another deadline each month ?
one creation a month with a week to do it after the theme is announced ?? ..:)

I can't actually compete with Roz, she's the winner hands down! But here's one from me anyway. I think it fits the theme somewhat.
