Seen a similar rise. At that point mine was in the low 4's and now at an acceptable 5.3333. Early voters were really harsh on this challenge. |

I voted about half the challenge last night. I will vote 100% and then follow Deb's lead and give feedback to those that want it. |

I must say that I strongly disagree with the definition of a duotone (*)in the challenge details. Based on classes I've taken and plenty of research, a monochromatic image can be a duotone, but Black/White alone is NOT a duotone. My understanding is that it's any image that was (but not in all cases) a black and white image that had color overlayed onto it. Sepia (*), a cyanotype (*) or any other color fits the definition. Having said that, I think that people are also getting confused about duotone vs. Split tone. A split tone (*) is an image that has a color that show up in the highlights and a different color that shows up in the shadows. This differs from a duotone because not only does it use 2 color overlays instead of 1, but also, the colors in a duotone most often only show up most predominantely in the midtones.
Having this as my knowledge, I voted in a stricter manner than I usually do. I won't give you my exact specifications, but if an image did not fit what a duotone is in my eyes, I knocked off 1 or 2 points, great image or not. I hope that gives some people an insight into their scores and makes them reconsider the scores they may have given.

Who has the dead horse gif?
We've gone over this a quick read of the thread would have told you we are all fairly aware of what a Duotone is, however the description fairly clearly states B&W is valid in this challenge so to vote those down is rather unfair - and to clarify again mine is a Duotone not a B&W :)

But the problem with that is that others followed the rules of the competition. I agree that black and white does not a duotone make, but since it specifically allowed it in the directive, why punish someone for following the rules?

Clueless! Is it not conceivable to you that voters can and do revise scores. That's why the vote total would not change, while the average vote shifts. OMG! Weird, not! |

You have rated 252 of 253 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 25 of 253 images (10%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.3690.
I've voted on everyone else's and added a few to my faves list in the process. Some wonderful shots in this challenge. I have a lot to learn. If I didn't leave a comment, or if I left a snarky one and you want real feedback, PM me and let me know which is yours. Of course, I will not change any votes. |
