Shecoya for the heads up! Iceland is on my "places to go" list and what a great combo, learning and visiting somewhere I'd like to go!! I'll be watching, saving and applying for my passport!! :D

only related to the gtg/workshop because i'm still returning ....

damn deer killed our car, some place between Clam Lake&Hayward, Wi.
my wife & i are supposed to be back at work on Monday... so here we sit in a Inn in Ashland, Wi. witha great view of Lake Superiour ... but no car ..... details as they happen

really we barely felt the impact / no air bags went off / the Sheriff said 100-150 lbs of deer & we were going the speed limit (actually started to brake !!)
my daughters in the back seat did not see the deer "fly" - though i dreams about it all last night --

the time line .. we hit the deer at 9:30pm hitched a ride to Clam Lake (bar / gas station & 10 houses ) for 9:55 ride back with the sheriff to the car at 10:30 then waiting for the tow truck & taxi for 3 hours .... stayed at the home of the taxi driver- localfestival weekend EVERYTHING was full!! (got there at 3am) turns out taxi company's owner actually ..
anyway -- stranded in the middle of nothing we meet the nice'est people REALLY!
from the gas station attendant / sheriff / the tow truck operator/taix driver
i think it helps having two cute kids ...

& accidentally stretching out our vacation by 3-4 days ... life is ok ..
(we have to get the estimate / insurance etc & will only find out tomorrow some time what we are doing ..... fixing / rental/ complications i tela'ya )
sigh...

Ugh! Glad you and your family are ok Ralph! Good thing it was not something bigger like a moose...

My sister hit a deer in her minivan going to Toronto from Ottawa, did not feel it, just saw her hood fly open! Minivan was declared a total loss...

Damn Ralph! Glad to hear everyone but the deer is ok. Deer can total a car so you guys came through pretty good overall. Now where are the shots of the poor departed deer?

wouldn't be a bad thing if it was totaled ...
coming back to the lovely town of Ashland in two or three weeks after it was repaired
would suck big time
took two pics of recently deceased deer / nether worth showing .. i was not concentrating on my photography ...

sigh ...

Just a suggestion for next time. It would be cool to include the web names as well as the real names cuz just the real names doesn't help us in identifying other DPCers. I have no idea who is who in these pics. Just faces with names. Looks like a great time was had by all.

ARGHHH!!! I got a present from the Calgary Police in the mail today; a $194 photo radar speeding ticket! What really ticks me off is that it was coming out of the restaurant Saturday and I wasn't sure how to get back the direction I wanted, so I was sticking with the traffic, hoping they'd lead me out the right way. They did, but apparently at 62km in a 30 zone!
I didn't even see speed limit signs, was just trying to follow the traffic... muttergrumblemutterswear....
I just hope the lead car in that row I was at the tail of got one too!

Sigh... there go some of the new things for my new house :(

The photo things are not fair in this situation when you were going with the flow of traffic. The camera can't make a rational decision, it just takes the pic. Sorry to hear about that!
