Really good ideas for going out!! How smart...cut your meal in half...then you have second meal ready to go!! We're going to our favorite restaurant on the lake and then heading to Barnes & Noble to hang out. I'll post tomorrow how I do!

Another thing that is helpful is to eat a low calorie snack (fruit would be good) as you walk out the door or even on your way. That way when you get there, you won't be so hungry. If I go hungry, I will almost always get a steak and loaded baked potato, etc. If, however, I'm not, I will usually go for grilled chicken, etc. or even a big salad (order dressing on the side).

You beat me to the punch on this one! It's such a great idea...AND...

* Always eat sitting down. Your brain does not register food as food when you are standing up. (Don't ask me, this is just what they told us at weight watchers.)
* Eat S-L-O-W-L-Y. It takes your brain 20 minutes to register the food and thus you don't start feeling full right away, but you might have already inhaled your entire meal!
* Keep almonds or small snacks with you in the car, at your desk, in your purse, wherever. 8-10 almonds, a few pretzels, a piece of fruit every 2-3 hours (even if you don't think you are hungry) will help keep the metabolism jazzed and will make your body more efficient at burning fat.
* As previously mentioned, WATER, WATER, WATER...if you have to have flavor, squeeze a slice of fresh lemon in...or even an orange (more sugar in orange). Often when you think you feel hungry, you are actually thirsty. Your body will adjust to the mega amounts of water.
* Eat something within one hour of rising in the morning. The BEST way to pack on the pounds is to skip breakfast. They train Sumo wrestlers to gain weight by telling them to never eat breakfast. Slows the metabolism greatly!

Dang...I should weigh 110 lbs!! lol, but that would require me practicing what I preach! :P Great success to us all, here!

And don't forget a very important point. Don't skip meals!

If you eat at inconsistent times each day or skip meals to the point you get hungered it has been said that the body will go into starvation mode. Meaning it will take whatever it can get and store it as fat because your brain thinks your are not going to eat or starve. It's a built in survival mode I guess.

I can't remember where I read that or hear that. I think it was told to my mother while attending Weight Watchers. I don't know how scientifically true this is but it makes sense.

Ok, so I just found this thread and I think it's a great idea. I'd like to join as well if that's ok.

My wife is pregnant right now with our first child. She's 19 weeks in and I've gained some sympathy weight with her. It's mainly because she eats small meals many times a day, and when she does I get hungry. My problem is I eat with her and I end up eating way too much. I'd really like to kick this habbit and I'm hoping this thread will be my motivator.

Here's my stats:
Height: 6'-0"
Starting weight: 247 lbs
BMI: 33.5
Weight loss goal: 30 lbs

meh, not doing too great this week so far. My best friend was visiting for 10 days on a break from boot camp so we were going out to dinner every night and going to amusement parks and movie theaters where the food is OH so healthy, but luckily from all the walking at 6 flags (and otherwise) I haven't gained any weight since friday, but I sure haven't lost any either. Oh well, now that she's gone :( it'll be a lot easier.

Still no images huh? What a bummer...

Anyway, I would tell you all about a program I am in for weight loss... though last time I did it was removed for not being Photography Related... 0_o

so, if anyone is interested, it is a good program. Though I have to warn you it is an MLM... though I honestly only am there for the products I don't care much for the business end. I am not good with people, digitally speaking.

If you want to know, please send me a message and I will send you a linky. I honestly have lost a couple inches around my midsection since being on the program. I am positive, for someone who is a lot more active than me it would have some tremendous results.

Sheesh, I bet you won't get before and afters until after! I'm still going to take a before shot, I'm just trying to figure out how. I like how they do them on Celebrity Fit Club, so maybe I will start doing one once a week to see if there's any type of "melt down".

Hah! Me too. And I rowed a half-marathon Saturday, 10k Sunday, and 30-minute pieces every weekday since the Friday weigh-in! Stuck at the same weight. :-P

I'm losing this week. :)

Drinking lots and lots of water and eating smaller portions.

Oh, and moving boxes of textbooks at work -- we're moving to a new building.

Nah!

Tomorrow!

Maybe if I don't eat ANYTHING today, I'll be down. LOL!!!

I refuse to change what I've been doing for the last five months of losing weight to make myself nuts during this exercise.

BTW, anyone here ever heard of BodyPump?

I joined this about six weeks ago, and it's fun but grueling.

Funny aside?

I'm pretty much the only guy in the program at my gym.

It's a real exercise in humility as I really struggle with it, but the hour just flies by 'cause it's non-stop.

Look fun and exciting...I wish I could do that but with my back and neck problems I'm very limited. Right now I'm taking advice and using the pool and walking as much as I can.

I have a few habits I have to let go such as soda's. If I would not have consumed several soda's over the last week I may have lost another 1 lb or two.

FWIW, I had a LOT of back, neck, and general physical malaise issues at the outset of my decision to change.

It's a gradual process, but much to my surprise and delight, as the weight came off, I started to feel better.....in spades!

I truly feel like a much younger version of myself, and having essentially quit doing any regular exercise since I left school almost 35 years ago, I am really happy with how I feel.

Please DO remember that the one who benefits most from this is YOU.....and that a real mental sense of well-being comes along with the physical as well.

I cannot emphasize enough how much a change, that YOU made the decision to do, will make you feel better.

This is addressed at all, not just Scott, BTW!

Good on all of us for making the commitment to yourselves!

We're all winners/losers!! ROFL!!!!

267.4

I dunno how it works......I just know that staying with what I've learned keeps the weight coming off.

Only down 1 pound this week. We had a sour cream and cheddar potato chip marathon last night. I am sure that didnt help my early morning weigh in.
