Day 13 - Player - Edited
Original
Edited
Not at all happy with it; had a bad day and its reflected in my lack of patience in working on it (or, in giving up). Tried to emphasize the player, but I don't think it works. I think the first is better cropped and color wise. Anyway ...
Will edit my last two shots from day 7 tomorrow, and then may return to shooting just minimals, but might have to give it a rest as I'm traveling next week and have a lot to do before I go. We'll see . . .

Day 12
I guess I missed a day or something. I've been so busy I don't know left from right.

after
Shot this with an old manual 50mm 1.4 Nikkor at 1.4 to get shallow DOF.
And, a bonus shot from today. This is cropped out of a larger shot, as I couldn't get very close, even using 300 mm.
f 8 version, same scene for those who like lots of details. It's nice, but the details detract from the flower.

i'm putting day 11 in as well just in case i cant do it tomorrow ...

i maybe should've increased the iso, but my images are grainy enough already coz of the lens i use, so i'm hesitant to do that ... and this is a case of needing to rectify in photoshop because as you can see i was at 1/20 shutter speed ... and i didnt want to open the aperture anymore coz i've been told that also can increase the grain .. like F8 is the 'sweet zone' and if you can take your photograph around that setting you'll get a much crisper and cleaner shot ...
so once again apologies to phillip !!!! .. :)

No processing details on the pages yet; will get to that tomorrow morning (my time).
I think this will do it for me; I'm really busy, and for now I think I'll focus on looking at everyone else's shots and commenting, if that's okay. I don't seem to have time to do both right now, and I learn an awful lot from looking and just reading the thread, and I've been missing that these last few days. So, I'm going to be greedy and do that for the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for all the comments on my shots and processing, everyone, I appreciate them an awful lot. The lessons and information on how you all shoot and process that you put with your own shots is also so valuable, and the sharing you all do here is great. I hope to be able to join another side project soon, so I'll read the threads and hopefully see you all soon.
Thanks again, everyone!

Before
After
I wanted to bring the left side of the tree up some in the edit, as the shapes are what I wanted in this pic.
Not very many pics around today. It was a little rainy, and this was the largest feature of the sunset. I was driving, and saw the tree fit the cloud when I went by, so turned aound and snapped a couple. This is the first of 4 , and the cloud was changing so fast that none of the rest looked like keepers.
I will be sailing with my son Robert tomorrow night thru Monday AM, so will not be on line much if at all.
Thanks for the wonderful comments on my hick clicking. I will try to respond soon.

And here's Day 13 (day 6 edited). Sorry, Deb, I couldn't leave the sky alone. Comparing the two now online, I may need to go back and lighten the sky again. What do you think?

day 13 ..
its hours since my last post ... and i've been lost in photoshop working on some photographs i took today ..
this appears to be highly processed because of the warping .. without the warping it would probably just look more dramatic ...
i feel that any processing we do, even if it seems over the top, is helpful to anyone else who wants to learn new things in photoshop .. and if you dont like the result of my processing of this image then hopefully some of the steps i've taken could come in handy for other applications ... i know there are some of us who lean much more towards the unaltered photograph ... it appears that i am not as capable as those ppl, and with my design background i find it very hard to leave well enough alone .. actually they arent well enough, which is why i manipulate so much ..
unedited ... which i didnt even mean to work on, BECAUSE IT A VERY ORDINARY PHOTOGRAPH, and then wondered how something'd go, and then something else, and as i said 'i got lost in photoshop' ... i've put this in partly coz i think any editing i do is helpful to other ppl and also coz i like my processed one !!...
edited ... and i'm back to dark and gloomy !! :)

This is Day 14 for me, I think. I wasn't happy with the editing of this shot at all. Decided I wasn't all that pleased with the original, but I do like it better. As I mention in the comments of one of them, I'll reshoot someday with a wider lens to get the perspective I'm after. Or just appreciate it when I walk by and realize I don't really need a picture to do that. :-)
And a bonus shot - minimal editing ruleset on this one - forgot I had a few on my camera from last Sunday after it rained.

Day 15 unedited. Finally starting to play with my fairly recently purchased Micro-Nikor 60mm f2.8D lens. I'll be trying to do some more with it as this week goes on.
Edited to add:
No need to comment on this one, it's just for fun.

i hope no-one minds but i'm gonna put some more in here that were taken at the same time as the one above ... i've put the unedited versions in as thumbs with the ones you see here .. they are very close in appearance to these coz there was minimal editing done to them ... the last three were all taken looking into the sun in the early morning in thick fog ...
