I think I have picked out the winners, and I don't really think they are "stock" images. I think the "stock" images score well, maybe in the 6's, but the "art" will win this round.

I hope.. but I have a feeling the stockish will reign supreme again.. It's so hard to tell who could win since the quality's are perfect..

Hmmm yes, I also didn't want to just take a shiny fruit with crisp background and lighting...AND I knew that I would suffer the consequences. I am just not drawn to still life situations at all. Maybe I should have sat this one out? But really my picture meets the challenge in terms of there being fruit and veggies in the picture.BUT it also meets MY criteria (which are definitely not the criteria of this site all of the time).I took a photo that I liked and submitted it..it's not going to be in the top 100 even, but I like it and it gave me another photo opportunity to stretch myself a bit.

You just have to be learning all the time and taking the comments and growing. I had this thought the other day: I've read a lot about the ill feelings towards the general style of the top scoring pictures - about DPC tastes. BUT what I reckon is...until I can take pictures that consistently score high on this site, I can't poo poo the style, voter criteria etc. Get good at doing a certain level/style of photography and then decide if you want to stay in this game or move on. If you want to play, then you've got to join in :-)

You can't stand in a gallery of Miro paintings and say "I could have done that - made those squiggles" without ever having had an exhibition of your own!!

Also what I've seen, is that while there is a certain taste in terms of bright, crisp, stock-type photos, there are many many unconventional images that come in, in the top 20. That being said, basically a great photo scores high and average photos score average and so on...

HAVE FUN

Frankly, I'm getting sick and tired of the typical artificial shiny immaculate stock-esque photography voters seem to like on this site.
I resisted the urge to enter such an image but I'm paying the price...

I havent checked out the competition yet but I am guessing mine might be a bit different to garner the higher score. Hope I can stay above 6 this week.

I disagree. I decided to do art instead of stock this time and what I get is 5.0000 ;-(

And yet your portfolio is full of them (including your 3 ribbon-winners). So what are you saying exactly ? You've obviously been happily playing the game up until now, with some great images... why the change of heart ? :O)

I put in one of those and have the same score you do. Should have entered one I liked better that wasn't stock-esque if only to provide variety! I promise I'll do that next time - I suck at stock-esque.

Don't worry mate, I've had so many ones it don't hurt anymore..

I thought my shot was pretty good and I would MAYBE wake up in the 6s...LOL! here's to thinking!

Still, I LIKE IT, so the score don't bother me but I feel for my team.

I am dropdead angry...I know who wrote this comment and I can tell you that you are very b**** lucky that I don't write you.

The challenge states this -
"Photograph a fruit. Photograph a vegetable. Photograph a fruit and a vegetable. Photograph as few or as many as you like."

My image has fruit in it.

And you, you pathetic dickwad...give me your comment...."DNMC"

There isn't anything else with the fruit...so how in the F does it not meet the challenge!

It seems that someone has their nose out of joint and want to lower everyones scores and do a copycat version of the fill the frame challenge. Well good luck mate..cause you will have to deal with a lot of angry members before too long.

BTW...my husband works underground....and some of the staff carry the nickname of 'veges'. If any of you don't understand what that means then read on.

When veges get hot they go soft!!!

Now somehow I think our DNMC friend has gone a little soft too...in the head. I think he needs to wake up and see that this challenge involves fruit and/or vegetables...!!

Now a good friend once told me - You should never argue with a woman about veggies! So bring it on loser!

Yea I got it too! Glad to know I'm not the only one. I gave the person a friendly piece of my mind. If it has fruits or veggies it meet the challenge, end of story. It doesn't have to be EXCLUSIVELY fruits or veggies.

grrr.

Just got that DNMC and a 1 from a very well known dpc-member, too. And he is definitely wrong. I think he just wants us to give him 1s too.
