Taken this afternoon when he wasn't looking. :)

I also reprocessed day 4 a bit. It's still not one of my favorite shots, but I think that the first time I went way too far in the PP because of that. I like this version better. :)

Well, I ran out of new photos so I'll post this one for today.
It's been too cold, too busy and too lazy here to get out and shoot much.

Still home from work, and feeling better than yesterday, but not up to snuff yet. So, I am sending another shot from the past, from the NJ Sculpture Garden. All I did to this shot was crop it. I have no idea why, but I liked the tree trunk in there better than out (maybe cuz it mimics the silhouette of the status??
When I go back to work, hopefully tomorrow, you'll be getting more of PA, since that's where I live for 37.5 hours a week anyhow (work).

PS: I hope to catch up on my comments soon. Sorry for the delay.

A little snow fell last night and brightened up the streets.

Day 2

Driving home today, I witnessed an accident between a car and a pick up truck, The truck won. Sadly all 4 occupants of the car were injured, including a 26 yr old pregnant woman.
After assisting them until rescue arrived, I went back and grabbed my camera from my vehicle. So, day 6 and 7 are from that accident. (yes I am cheating)

Not sure how I feel about the processing now that I'm finished with it. Here's the Elmira Gymnastics Club.

Day 7: Utah
My opinion is that this picture would be stronger if I weren't zoomed in so far...What do you think?

Way behind. Very busy at work and working late.

Feb 6:

I actually have about a dozen shots I need to play with from Motorcycle Safety Awareness Day at the Capitol, including one of John Travolta. Barbarino! Seriously.

I said a few days ago I usually get a seat on the subway. Not today!

I had fun holding the camera up to the ceiling and shooting (my flip-out LCD screen makes composing at odd angles MUCH easier!).

Then I started playing with two blur filters in PS. I created a gradient layer mask to indicate depth (white is closer, black is further away). Then I used the lens blur filter, which lets you set the distance that's sharp. I noticed two people were looking right at me at different distances, so I created two versions zeroing in on each of them.

Finally, I dropped the lens blur and the layer mask and used the smart blur filter. I'd always wondered what that did. Well, the settings it was on turned everything into blocks of color, which I think looks like a painting.

I know it's a lot to ask, but I'd really appreciate hearing what you think of the four variations.

#1 (original, with everything sharp):

#2 (lens blur with the middle sharp):

#3 (lens blur with a closer section sharp):

#4 (smart blur to create a painting feel):

Holy crap I'm 4 days behind already. I have the photos just not the time to mess with them yet. You'll have to settle for the birds outside my window at the feeders because it's been to damn cold out to go shooting anything else.

Day 7 in Vancouver, Canada: Good Weather Weekends
More details in the photo notes

Starting to reach rock bottom here. I haven't been out in few days to get new pictures (both busy and absolutely crappy weather) and I'm running out of backup pics from this weekend. I'll have to get some good ones tomorrow.

It was cold and I had no reason to go out into the freeze, so I thought I would show you the arena where I take an uninspired 5/5.5 challenge photo and turn it into a solid 4.3/4.6 masterpiece! I can do some terrible things to a photo on the Mac, but when I really feel the need to make a mess, nothing beats a good PC!

So here, for day six I present my dark, dank, dingy, dungeon of DPC desperation! :o)
