Two Little Boys - Rolf Harris

I'd write the lyrics here, but I'm afraid to start mass DPC hysterical bawling :-P

Bet it was from all the animals in the area fleeing, clawing their way over your lifeless body trying to escape the auditory assassination of such a beautiful and emotional song.

I scanned through this thread and didn't see anyone mention "Teddy Bear" by Red Sovine. I don't know how many years this song's been around, but it kills me everytime. Extremely sad.

Well I don't expect many here to know about this song but a few may and if you are a fan of fine music you should.

The song that I just can't get out of my head is called "stuff and nonsense" by Tim Finn but the version I like best is sung by Missy Higgins on a tribute album.

Here is a write up of the album

'She Will Have Her Way' is a unique album that features Australia and New Zealand's finest female singer/songwriters paying tribute to the genius songwriting of Tim & Neil Finn. Neil & Tim Finn are two of the most successful and renowned songwriters of our time. They have penned countless classic and timeless songs throughout their solo careers as well as during their time in Split Enz and Crowded House.

"She will have her way " track number 2

The latest tear jerker added to my playlist is...

Hold you in my arms - Ray LaMontagne

When you came to me with your bad dreams and your fears
It was easy to see that you'd been crying
Seems like everywhere you turn catastrophe it reigns
But who really profits from the dying
I could hold you in my arms
I could hold you forever
I could hold you in my arms
I could hold you in my arms forever.....

I'm So Happy, I Could Cry - - - by Sting

If you are a divorced father and need to let it out, then listen to this song.

I once had to quickly exit a department store when this song came on. Not being able to see my son during much of the divorce process had a very bad effect on me for quite some time.

He's been living with me full time now for about seven years and things are good, but I still don't pull out that CD. Maybe I'll give a little test now that I reminded myself of it.

I'm Already There by Lonestar

He called her on the phone...
From a lonely cold hotel room.
Just to hear her say "I love you" one more time.
And when he heard the sound...
Of the kids laughing in the background.
He had to wipe away a tear from his eye.
A little voice came on the phone.
Said..."Daddy...when you comin' home?"
He said the first thing that came to his mind.

"I̢۪m already there.
Take a look around.
I̢۪m the sunshine in your hair.
I̢۪m the shadow on the ground.
I̢۪m the whisper in the wind.
I̢۪m your imaginary friend.
And I know...I̢۪m in your prayers.
I̢۪m already there."

She got back on the phone.
Said..."I really miss you darlin.
Don̢۪t worry about the kids...they̢۪ll be alright.
Wish I was in your arms...
Lyin̢۪ right there beside you.
But I know...that I̢۪ll be in your dreams tonight.
And I̢۪ll gently kiss your lips.
Touch you with my fingertips.
So turn out the light...and close your eyes"

I̢۪m already there.
Don̢۪t make a sound.
I̢۪m the beat in your heart.
I̢۪m the moonlight shining down.
I̢۪m the whisper in the wind.
And I̢۪ll be there to the end.
Can you feel the love that we share?
I̢۪m already there.

We may be a thousand miles apart.
But I̢۪ll be with you...wherever you are.

I̢۪m already there.
Take a look around.
I̢۪m the sunshine in your hair.
I̢۪m the shadow on the ground.
I̢۪m the whisper in the wind.
And I̢۪ll be there to the end.
Can you feel the love that we share?
I̢۪m already there.

I̢۪m already there.

By Your Side - Sade

you think i'd leave your side baby
you know me better than that
you think i'd leave you down when you're down on your knees
i wouldn't do that
i'll tell you you're right when you want
ha ah ah ah ah ah
and if only you could see into me

oh when you're cold
i'll be there
hold you tight to me

when you're on the outside baby and you can`t get in
i will show you you're so much better than you know
when you're lost and you're alone and you cant get back again
i will find you darling and i will bring you home

and if you want to cry
i am here to dry your eyes
and in no time
you'll be fine

you think i'd leave your side baby
you know me better than that
you think id leave you down when you're down on your knees
i wouldn't do that
i'll tell you you're right when you wrong
ha ah ah ah ah ah
and if only you could see into me

oh when you're cold
i'll be there
hold you tight to me
when you're low
i'll be there
by your side baby

oh when you're cold
i'll be there
hold you tight to me
oh when you're low
i'll be there
by your side baby

10,000 miles Mary Chapin Carpenter

Fare thee well
My own true love
Farewell for a while
I̢۪m going away
But I̢۪ll be back
Though I go 10,000 miles

10,000 miles
My own true love
10,000 miles or more
The rocks may melt
And the seas may burn
If I should not return

Oh don̢۪t you see
That lonesome dove
Sitting on an ivy tree
She̢۪s weeping for
Her own true love
As I shall weep for mine

Oh come ye back
My own true love
And stay a while with me
If I had a friend
All on this earth
You̢۪ve been a friend to me

So many choices.

"Butterfly Kisses"
"Fingerprints of God"
"He's My Son"
"Untitled Hymn"
"I Will be Here"

There's a new contemporary Christian one out by Mark Harris...something about helping you find your wings?

And I almost forgot "Wonderful Merciful Saviour" sung by Selah

I know of only one song that can bring tears to my eyes, that's Last Kiss with Pearl Jam.

and that's just because I've been in similar situation they're singing about.
08/01/2006 07:11:34 PM · #294
I know some of these have probably been mentioned already, but:

Skin - Rascal Flatts
Not Easy to be Me - Dave Matthews Band
Something Worth Leaving Behind - Leeann Womack
In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel
Murder of One - Counting Crows
Let Her Cry - Hootie and the Blowfish
Pissin' Down - Sass Jordan

Almost any song written by Prince, Robert Smith of The Cure, or Sting can make me cry because the three of them are brilliant writers and can stir emotions I didn't even know I had within me when I hear their music.

I never experience this situation, but lately it also has been the only song that could bring tears to my eyes

The River by Garth Brooks:

You know a dream is like a river
Ever changin' as it flows
And a dreamer's just a vessel
That must follow where it goes
Trying to learn from what's behind you
And never knowing what's in store
Makes each day a constant battle
Just to stay between the shores.. and

I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry

Too many times we stand aside
And let the waters slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow
Has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say you're satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide.. yes

I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry

And there's bound to be rough waters
And I know I'll take some falls
But with the good Lord as my captain
I can make it through them all.. yes

I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry

Yes, I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
'Til the river runs dry

"Skin" by Rascal Flatts.
"What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts
"Your Everything" by Keith Urban
"Broken" by Lindsay Haun
"Gone Without Goodbye" by Brian Littrell

A lot of it depends on my mood though, song that don't affect me normally will get to me when I'm sad or in a weird mood.

That song was so sad the first time I heard it, I refuse to listen to it anymore... that's beyond crying... that one just hurts.
