Alfresco, I'm surprized noone has spotted that you're a Barry Manilow fan.

I'm impressed with the number of "oldies" you are all tossing out. There are some great songs on this list.

My tearjearker is "How Can I Not Love You" by Joy Enriquez from the Anna and the King soundtrack

Always reminds me of a good friend/amazing person that died way too young from CF. She knew she'd probably never see 30, yet she was just the most amazing person to be around.

GREEN DAY "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

You people are evil, songs that make you cry.. jeeze..
I read through this tread and dangit. Suggesting "Don't take the Girl" by Tim McGraw, ok this is a song I have a Very hard time if I can listen too. I don't listen to country music very often or ever, but this song well....

Feb 26 1995, I was heading back from the hospital my girlfriend had given birth to a still born daughter from Eclampsia. Was a hard hit, I was listening to the radio on the way home from the hospital. The rock station I normally listened to was playing "Lightining Crashes" from Live, decided that was too much, changed the station using seek, wound up on a country station, they played the "Don't take the Girl" song, I had to pull off the road and cry...

Well my girlfriend at the time I decided to part ways after this, I met my soon to be wife shortly after, funny part is on our first date she had that same Tim McGraw CD. Not being a normal country song guy I only knew one song from that CD, She put it too "Not a moment too soon" Man did that fit for that time in my life. And no I don't listen to country, but been married for 9 years:)

There are so many dog (and cat) lovers on this site (myself included), I am surprised nobody has mentioned this song yet.
If you don't know it, read the lyrics and cry with me:

Elvis Presley - Old Shep

When I was a lad
And old Shep was a pup
Over hills and meadows we'd stray
Just a boy and his dog
We were both full of fun
We grew up together that way

I remember the time at the old swimmin' hold
When I would have drowned beyond doubt
But old Shep was right there
To the rescue he came
He jumped in and then pulled me out

As the years fast did roll
Old Shep he grew old
His eyes were fast growing dim
And one day the doctor looked at me and said
I can do no more for him Jim

With hands that were trembling
I picked up my gun
And aimed it at Shep's faithful head
I just couldn't do it
I wanted to run
I wish they would shoot me instead

He came to my side
And looked up at me
And laid his old head on my knee
I had struck the best friend that a man ever had
I cried so I scarcely could see

Old Shep he has gone
Where the good doggies go
And no more with old Shep will I roam
But if dogs have a heaven
There's one thing I know
Old Shep has a wonderful home

Letters from Home - John Michael Montgomery
Skin (Sara Beth) - Rascal Flatts
Little Girl - John Michael Montgomery
I'm Already There - Lonestar (particularly the version with the families giving messages to their loved ones overseas)

I've really gotten into country the last few years and I think its because of the story quality many of the songs have. The above ones are no exception, and since I listen to country while I'm working I'm often wiping tears from my eyes surreptitiously. I don't want to make this post uber long so I'll only do the lyrics for the first song:

Letters from Home - John Michael Montgomery

My Dear Son, it is almost June,
I hope this letter catches up to you, and finds you well.
Its been dry but they’re calling for rain,
And everything's the same ol’ same in Johnsonville.
Your stubborn 'ol Daddy ain’t said too much,
But I’m sure you know he sends his love,
And she goes on,
In a letter from home.

I hold it up and show my buddies,
Like we ain’t scared and our boots ain’t muddy, and they all laugh,
Like there’s something funny bout’ the way I talk,
When I say: "Mama sends her best y’all."
I fold it up an' put it in my shirt,
Pick up my gun an' get back to work.
An' it keeps me driving me on,
Waiting on letters from home.

My Dearest Love, its almost dawn.
I’ve been lying here all night long wondering where you might be.
I saw your Mama and I showed her the ring.
Man on the television said something so I couldn’t sleep.
But I’ll be all right, I’m just missing you.
An' this is me kissing you:
XX’s and OO’s,
In a letter from home.

I hold it up and show my buddies,
Like we ain’t scared and our boots ain’t muddy, and they all laugh,
'Cause she calls me "Honey", but they take it hard,
'Cause I don’t read the good parts.
I fold it up an' put it in my shirt,
Pick up my gun an' get back to work.
An' it keeps me driving me on,
Waiting on letters from home.

Dear Son, I know I ain’t written,
But sittin' here tonight, alone in the kitchen, it occurs to me,
I might not have said, so I’ll say it now:
Son, you make me proud.

I hold it up and show my buddies,
Like we ain’t scared and our boots ain’t muddy, but no one laughs,
'Cause there ain’t nothing funny when a soldier cries.
An' I just wipe me eyes.
I fold it up an' put it in my shirt,
Pick up my gun an' get back to work.
An' it keeps me driving me on,
Waiting on letters from home.
