No tears - just playing the John Denver Card:

Well life on the farm is kinda laid back
Aint much an old country boy like me cant hack
Its early to rise, early in the sack
Thank God Im a country boy

Well a simple kinda life never did me no harm
A raisin me a family and workin on a farm
My days are all filled with an easy country charm
Thank God Im a country boy

Well I got me a fine wife I got me a fiddle
When the suns comin up I got cakes on the griddle
Life aint nothin but a funy funny riddle
Thank God Im a country boy

When the works all done and the suns settlin low
I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow
The kids are asleep so I keep it kinda low
Thank God Im a country boy

Id play Sally Goodin all day if I could
But the Lord and my wife wouldnt take it very good
So I fiddle when I could, work when I should
Thank God Im a country boy

Well I got me a fine wife I got me a fiddle
When the suns comin up I got cakes on the griddle
Life aint nothin but a funy funny riddle
Thank God Im a country boy

Well I wouldnt trade my life for diamonds and jewels
I never was one of them money hungry fools
Iid rather have my fiddle and my farmin tools
Thank God Im a country boy

Yeah, city folk drivin in a black limousine
A lotta sad people thinkin thats mighty keen
Son, let me tell ya now exactly what I mean
Thank God Im a country boy

Well I got me a fine wife I got me a fiddle
When the suns comin up I got cakes on the griddle
Life aint nothin but a funy funny riddle
Thank God Im a country boy

Well, my fiddle was my daddys till the day he died
And he took me by the hand and held me close to his side
Said, Live a good life and play my fiddle with pride
And thank God youre a country boy

My daddy taught me young how to hunt and how to whittle
Taught me how to work and play a tune on the fiddle
Taught me how to love and how to give just a little
Thank God Im a country boy

Well I got me a fine wife I got me a fiddle
When the suns comin up I got cakes on the griddle
Life aint nothin but a funy funny riddle
Thank God Im a country boy

Last Kiss - Pearl Jam. Seemed to always be playing on the radio while my baby nephew was in hospital. He died aged 6 weeks.
Sorry - Tracey Chapman.

Oh yeah, as soon as I try to sing a lick of "homesick" by them I choke up.

Guess there are times when we all need to share a little pain
And ironing out the rough spots
Is the hardest part when memories remain
And it's times like these when we all need to hear the radio
`Cause from the lips of some old singer
We can share the troubles we already know

Turn them on, turn them on
Turn on those sad songs
When all hope is gone
Why don't you tune in and turn them on

They reach into your room
Just feel their gentle touch
When all hope is gone
Sad songs say so much

If someone else is suffering enough to write it down
When every single word makes sense
Then it's easier to have those songs around
The kick inside is in the line that finally gets to you
and it feels so good to hurt so bad
And suffer just enough to sing the blues

Sad songs, they say
Sad songs, they say
Sad songs, they say
Sad songs, they say so much

She said I'm not pointing fingers
He said yes you are'
cause you wouldn't bring it up if you weren't
If I told you I'd been walking
Out in the dark night thinking
Would you take as truth this alcoholic's word
I can't change what's done is done
But I can tell you this
Not a day goes by that iDon't curse myself and all my sins

This one really hits home for me

And Whitney Houston's version of "I believe in You & Me" when I sang it to my husband last Saturday night for our 17th Anniversary.

Cept for when you're cryin & singin...KARAOKE RULES! :o)

If Wing Beneath My Wings is Playing on tv, Auto Cry--- Agreed

Dang, I gotta go find a rant or something to cheer me up now.

This one got me through one of the toughest times in my life...it always brings at least a tear when I think back.

Another day has almost come and gone
Can’t imagine what else could wrong
Sometimes I’d like to hide away somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost but not the war (’cause)

Tomorrow’s another day
And I’m thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

It’s almost like the hard times circle ’round
A couple drops and they all start coming down
Yeah, I might feel defeated,
I might hang my head
I might be barely breathing - but I’m not dead

Tomorrow’s another day
And I’m thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

I’m not gonna let it get me down
I’m not gonna cry
And I’m not gonna lose any sleep tonight

Down in Jamaica
they got lots of pretty women
Steal your money
then they break your heart
Lonesome Sue
She's in love with ol' Sam
She take him from the fire
into the frying pan

On and on
She just keeps on trying
and she smiles
when she feels like crying
On and on...

Poor ol' Jimmy
Sits alone in the moonlight
He saw his woman kiss another man
So he takes a ladder
Steals the stars from the sky
Puts on Sinatra
and starts to cry

CHORUS

When the first time
is the last time
It can make you feel so bad
But if you know it
Show it
Hold on tight
Don't let her say, "Goodnight"

I got the sun on my shoulders
and my toes in the sand
My woman's left me for some other man
Aw, but I don't care
I'll just dream and stay tan
Toss up my heart
to see where it lands

On and on...
I just keep on trying
and I smile
when I feel like dying
On and on...
