I like Jolene by the white stripes originally by folly parton.

Have a cigar by primus

Sublime covered a bad religion song called we are only gonna die.....

The johnny cash American box set has many covers including a bob marley cover with joe strummer that is great!

And if you count the symphonic pink Floyd that is the best ever.

I gotta say I really love the cover the Deftones made of "the chauffeur" by Duran Duran, MUCH Better than the original, usually I hate cover versions as they in 99% of the time sound way suckier than the originals.

Rufus Wainwright - Hallelujah (I may have that wrong..)

Same song, different artist. Love Jeff Buckley's version.

I love all of Leonard Cohen's music....when he's not singing it.

I love ElisaĆ¢€™s version ( but Jeff Buckley's version is great too )

I have to agree with this one. Tis brilliant.

Hmmm...favourite cover would have to be (I know it was mentioned before) Stevie Ray Vaughans version of Little Wing. Stunning!

Although I am a huge Weezer fan, I prefer Travis's cover of the same song - you can hear how much fun they're having with it...

Also, other ones I thought of:
-Fiona Apple's cover of "Across the Universe" by The Beatles [plays out at the end of the movie Pleasantville]
-The Flying Lizards' cover of "Money (That's What I Want)" by the Beatles [used in Empire Records and tons of other movies, including a great Standard Bank TV ad here in S.Africa many years ago]
and
-Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole's cover medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"/"What A Wonderful World" [used in 50 First Dates and countless TV shows]
