That's not just any pic of a clown. The tilt of the head combined with the unnatural geometries of his make-up/wig create a terrific composition. |

I am always appalled by the finish order in these challenges. So often a superb image gets overlooked while some insipid snapshots score very well. I can only conclude that it is a matter of voting practices rather than voter ignorance or indifference, as it is well known that DPC voters have superb taste and a discerning eye.
I have noticed that it is rare for entries to receive as many votes as there are entries in the challenge. This may be due to the fact that many entrants do not vote or vote 'selectively', that is, they scan the thumbnails and if an image catches their eye they vote on that one then return to scanning for other 'eyecatchers'. IMO, those that enter a challenge should be required to vote on more than 20% of the images (perhaps 50%) and those that have not entered be required to vote on 80%. This would reduce the temptation to vote on the thumbnails which frequently do not display the quality of an image. Just a suggestion for consideration, may not be practical. |
