You bring the 1D and all those white lenses and you'd better keep a close eye on them!

I just noticed this thread (been away from DPC recently) and I'd love to join you guys and learn from some of the amasing photogs here!! I've just moved to Ithaca so I'd have no problem in meeting you all at Stewart park. Only I don't have a car, so depending on where we go later in the day, I might need a ride.

It would be great if you could join us!
Carpooling is very possible. Are you sure you can get to Stewart Park? It is a bit out of the way if you don't go by car....I'll be coming through Ithaca on my way there (coming up rte79 from the south)....possibly could pick you up on the way to the park. Let me know.

I'd be in with n8trchik if we could get this on a SUNDAY sometime. It's still wedding season! :( I have weddings today, the 8th and 15th. If we can do something the 16th, right at peak season, I'm all about it - specially if Methos and Shannon are still around! :)

Maybe we need a new post - for the Oct 15/16 weekend...or maybe we can plan it all out on FLP

So far:
Saturday, OCT 8: eqsite, Butterflysis, Kadi, Neuferland(?), davidx76(?), bjstudent & photoconnections (from FLP) and maybe 1 more.
Destination:Begin at Stewart Park, then Ithaca gorge or Buttermilk Falls or similar, lunch?/picnic?

Saturday/Sunday, OCT 15/16: MeThoS, nshapiro, Nikolai and crew from NYC?, Mavrik & n8trchik, eqsite? and kadi
Destination:Taughannock Falls and otherplaces as out-of-towners desire.
I can come either Saturday and Sunday and am willing to carpool--I know Ithaca well enough to get around without much trouble and my minivan is quite comfortable with room for tri-pods.

I just sent you a PM. Since I'm in town, I'm more than happy to pick you up and drive you around. Just let me know.

Yep, I'd definitely do the 15th/16th as well (both days even if people want). Given two days we could really cover a lot of ground.

Just to keep things clear, could people post again exactly what days they're planning to come?

Here are the days I'm planning for get-togethers:

Oct 8. -- Stewart Park.
Oct. 15 -- Location unknown
Oct. 16 -- Location unknown

The 8th and the 16th if I can pull it off, will know closer to the date.

Oct. 16 -- Almost Definite

I would like to attend but I still have not decided if I want to drive that far. Aside from that why do you pick dates when other GTG are happening? Oct 8/9 NYC, Oct 15 PA. I supose I could drive from PA to upstate for Oct 16th but that's a long drive. Anybody owns a plane?

Nick

I fly into syracruse. How far is that from where we're meeting?
10/02/2005 01:18:59 AM · #67
I can definitly make the 8th, not so sure about the following weekend, I'll have to let you know sooner to that time.

MeThoS: I think Syracuse is about 1 1/2 hour away from Ithaca.

Depending on where you are in Syracuse I would say more like 45-1 hour. I'm in Watkins Glen and it takes me about 1.5 hours.

I'm still interested in the 15th-16th, but won't know for sure until next week. I'll need to find an inexpesnvie hotel, though. The same ones listed earlier still apply, I assume?
10/02/2005 11:31:32 AM · #72
There's a Comfort Inn in Cortland (about a 20mi. or 1/2 hour trip), 3-star, $81, or a Quality Inn, same as above for $73.

3-star Holiday Inn in Elmira/Horseheads (same distance) for $88.

I'm not sure what you consider inexpensive but there's a few ideas for you. I use Side Step to search when I need hotels.

Okay, I talked to the kids (Terry doesn't really matter since it's Melissa who has to watch James) and explained that Mommy needs some alone time, no kids, no hubby, no animals, no house and I was leaving them very early on the morning of the 8th and had no clue when I might be back and I would probably do the same thing on the 16th. They had no problem with it, LOL!

So it looks like you all will have to put up with me on those two days! Keep in mind no fancy eating places for me, I pack lunch, can't afford to eat out..........

You have me down for the wrong date below...I was set to come on the 8th.

I would have preferred the 15/16 so I could share the driving with Shannon (he has to come through this way anyway), but we have plans to go out on the night of the 15th, so I wouldn't be able to come the night before (though I could leave 4 in the morning or something like that)!
