Not to my knowledge. I lost power last night, so I haven't yet seen any emails that Neil might have sent between then and this morning. Regardless, we were planning to shoot until sunset (if such a thing exists), so anytime after dark should be fine for dinner. Say, 7:30 or 8?

That's fine by me. Nick, can your hunger wait that late?

7:30-8 sounds great

Where????

Nick, why don't I plan to pick you up at your hotel around 7:30pm -- that way you won't have to drive and we can figure out where on-the-fly. You should all have my cell phone number so we can just touch base Saturday evening and go from there.

Anyone want to eat at the Moosewood restaurant? (I'm a vegetarian, though I eat fish).

That would be fine with me. They are open for dinner on Saturdays 5:30-9:00. The only downside of that is that they only offer vegetarian food, so if anyone is a meat-lover, they'd be out of luck. But, as I said, that would be fine with me.

scalvert & nshapiro:

If you guys are still coming out Rt. 28, here are some maps around the Ashokan Reservoir with some scenic spots highlighted. It's definitely worth the stop if you have time.

I'll vouch that their food is so excellent, you won't really miss the meat. They are also reknowned for their recipe books! (And there are plenty of "burger joints around the corner for people who need a meat fix.)

Ummm... yeah... about that.... I just got off the phone with Neil, and we're not too keen on the weather forecast you planned for us. I mean, really, you could AT LEAST order some sun for this shindig! Granted, it's only a 30% chance of rain, but it looks like showers and drizzle all day. Blech! After the last 8 days, we've more than our recommended daily allowance of rain. The Catskills, on the other hand, are supposed to be partly cloudy and beautiful all day Sunday. We put those two bits of trivia into our calculators and decided that we're better off postponing an Ithaca trip and hitting the Catskills instead. Sorry, folks!

I was trying to drag Nico_blue along, but he was too busy on Saturday to make it. He might be available for a Sunday day trip, though. We don't want to be any more of a drag on your GTG than we already are, but if anybody would like to join us...

Thanks! Sorry we won't be making it to Ithaca this weekend. But I'd still like to make it out sometime this month, when the weather's a bit better!

So that's where all those raindrops are coming from. ;)

I hope you have better weather than they're advertising. Cloudy is ok, but since I don't use any L lenses anymore, my lenses and camera are not waterproof! For that matter, neither is my camera bag.

BTW, the maps are for places in the Catskills...if you get that far south, you won't want to discount them.

Yes, I think that's exactly where we are going. Just a day trip, it's a lot closer for both of us.

I'm still hoping to make it to Ithaca some weekend, but Shannon said he couldn't make it any other weekend at least in October. Many of the people that were coming were locals--I think--so hopefully, I'll be able to go out and shoot with some of you. (I was in Ithaca once, about 20 years ago; my wife did her undergraduate at Cornell, so I went there to visit her alma mater.)

But for the record, I'm sad too, because other than the weather, it all sounded PERFECT! (And the Moosewood part too. I went there 20 years ago!)

KaDi, weren't you, Gary, and I discussing an outing for the 29th or so? Perhaps we could finish planning it so Neil, and anyone else, would be able to prepare? (If we do, let's start another thread for it.)

Neil & Shannon: Sorry to hear you aren't able to make it. I was looking forward to seeing you guys!

Well that sucks. We'll just have to do our best without you guys. Hope you enjoy the Catskills.

Nick, it looks like it's just you and me for dinner tomorrow if you're still interested (unless anyone else wants to join). I'll let you pick the place. I'm not too picky -- just no sushi.

Yes, a 24 and the 85 1.2, it's all I have room for in my pack. I doubt I use them much.

I'll probably have room in my bag. :-D

Have a safe trip out! Maybe you'll have a nice week next week.

Monday is looking good.

I'd bring my 28-70 or 70-200 out if someone wanted to by them in person...
