Clearly remember googling for another photographer named Tim Jensen, and found this one.

I was lurking around from the beginning. I love the colour RED, so it is easy for me to recall this image. I saw lots of fun stuff in the early days of DPC. It is very hard to enjoy all of the wonderful work on the site today simply due to the shear volume of submissions.

Generally speaking, the calibre of submissions has improved greatly with the volume and there are so many talented photographers here that it would be impossible to truthfully pick a single favourite today.

This image was on the first page as a challenge winner, it grabbed my attention and I have been a site member ever since.

As I was getting into photography... my good friend in photography school advised me of some of the aspects to know... Leading Lines being one aspect. I did a google search and found this site... specifically these images:

or one of a similar time, this is one I really like though.

This was the most eye-catching of the 6 that were on the front page when I joined this site.

This image is the first one I saw. It was on the front page when I joined the site. The 'curves' challenge was the first challenge I entered and voted on.

That should date your arrival pretty exactly, as it only made it to a ribbbon after a DQ, and was only there for about a day as I recall.

What was the first image you marked as a favourite?

I would have to agree with you on this one. The love of my life had asked me to visit this site and I was stunned by the quality of the photographs. I vividly recall asking how this could have been done and being directed to the help files. This photo aroused an interest in photography in me that did not exist berore, and it was probably instrumental in my joining the ranks of DPC.

The one which definitively caught me is

My first favourite

The one that got me to "notice" the site:

I was trying to decide what dSLR to buy, and had not even found here at that stage.

I stumbled across a photo taken with the 10D that was the deciding factor in me selecting that camera. Later on I found here and where the photo came from:

I remember well the first one I chose as a favorite.

May also have been the first one I saw, it certainly was one that drew me in.

Here's another one among the very first I saw. While Beguin's made me think "WOW, talent like that is just waaaay out of my league!", this one made me think "WOW, if I join a site like this, maybe I too will be inspired to try something this crazy!":

I remember it like it would be today: "Big Wheel Spinning"

On further thought, I now remember checking out DPC about the same time as I bought my 10D, because a lot of local photographers talked about the site on their homepages and said that it helped them a lot to learn about photography - at the time I had no idea that icelanders were such a big force here :)
I remember seeing the challenge desc for Habits and being totally stuck for ideas and then revisting a few days later and see BradP's excellent take on that:

I got a link from a friend. It was an eye opener ;)

This is the first shot that had an impact one me, one of my first favorites. I have it hanging on my wall and it makes me laugh every time I look at it, I can just imagine what these guys are saying :)
