Challenge: Wheels (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-D60
Location: Houston
Date: Apr 1, 2004
Aperture: f/16
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1.5 sec
Galleries: Abstract, Action
Date Uploaded: Apr 1, 2004

This was taken on one of the few really clear nights we had here in houston lately.

I know some commented it was not very sharp in a few areas and I agree, this shot was hand held while sitting in my truck, so I think it came out ok. Plus the carnies (carnival employees) were looking at me weird.

ISO 200 F/16 1.5 second exposure

Handheld with a 1.5sec shutter?! What are you nuts? Great job! You must not be a caffeine addict yet. I grab a tripod for 1/60 shots. Wonderful composition and contrast.

Thanks all, I rested my elbow on the door arm rest and the camera against the window, no ND filters, yes it was spinning pretty fast or fast enough to give the motion... I took about 40 pics that night from a few different angles

James

Congratulations!
Hand Held? Did you rest on the truck door?
Did you use any ND filters or etc?
For only 1.5 secs It looks like it was turning fast :)

I was going to say, "Wow, hand held?!" But everyone else has said it, so I won't bother... :)

Gives impression of moving at 120 mph, poor people who are taking the ride! :-)
Compsition and light very good, lack of sharpness, maybe because of done handheld or poor lense,7.

I can not believe you made this so very interesting. Even though there can't be too many Ferris Wheel pictures, you really did this well -- it looks as dangerous as I first thought when I was 3 years old.

Nice use of motion blur. I'm glad you didn't add a border. I expect you will do very well with this one.

Nice photo. This seems to be the most interesting photo to me in this challenge. I might have liked to see it a little more centered though.

A really nice image. The colours of the sky are spot on in complementing the colours of the fairground lights.

Like it a lot, a pity that the other parts of the picture are out of focus. But the wheel looks fantastic. Therefore I rate it a 7

I don't know what this is, but i hope there is nobody in it. This would have gone just as well in the 'motion blur' challenge. Very good.

Nicely done. I like the color of the sky. This looks similar to a picture in Pop Photo and Imaging a few months back.

Composition doesn't really thrill me. Think I'd have approached it from a different angle, but great exposure and motion blur.

Very nice! I'm an aficianado of time-lapse shots of carnivals (small group, eh?) and you've really caught the motion nicely. Did you use a tripod? Nitpicking, but it seems like some things are nicely sharp (the checkered canopy) but other things aren't so sharp (the mini-indy sign). Perhaps different USM settings would yield more uniform sharpness?

Almost perfect... focus is just off IMO.. this would do MUCH better (knowing the DPC crowd) had this been in focus. Otherwise, everything else seems to be in order... composition and color tone. Very good sky too, perfect timing is all i can say. Hope you do well! Good luck! :D
