The Ruinby e301Comment: Great texture and contrast. I think it would also work well in BW. The crop seems a little tight on the right and on top. A little less zoom I think would help here. Exposure seems bang on. 8 |

Solitudeby p_johnsComment: The silhouetted figure on the hilltop adds interest however the central location makes the image a bit static. Cropping part of the image at the right I think would add impact to it and it would remove the blown out part of the sky. 7 |

Graceful Departureby connieComment: Exposure is perfect. You've captured some nice texture in the clouds and the colour on the water gives it a metallic look. However, for more interest I believe you either need something silhouetted on the beach or in the water. 6 |

Bear River Marshesby dsidwellComment: Good sharpness from foreground to background which works well with this type of image. Nice leading line with the waterway. Zooming slightly to make the mountains more prominent on the horizon or a higher vantage point may provide more impact. The exposure seems bang on. 7 |

Wish I Knew What You Were Thinkingby flip89Comment: Great contrast and texture in the gorilla's fur. The catch light in the left eye seems off.
I think a tighter crop from the top would work here (just down to the dimple on the skull). A rule of thumb is to either include all of something or crop a fair bit so it doesn't look like a miss. This works for most subjects, not just portraits. 7 |

In the Fangs of Shadowby librodoComment: This is a wonderful photojournalistic portrait. There are two things that I think would make it even better, 1) Crop closer to the boy's head on the left to remove some of the dark area and 2) either have his hand in focus or crop just above it. I think the DOF might be a little bit too shallow since the left side of his head seems to be out of focus.
The exposure on his face seems just right. 6 |

"Back" Cover Girlby DougPazComment: This is an interesting image. The exposure seems bang on though a reflector may have helped on the right to add light to the left side of your model. The hair on the your model's right (image left) detracts from her face blending more with the magazine. If it were pushed back I think the blend would work even better. Good choice of background. 8 |

Captivatedby sherComment: Great expression on the girl's face. She looks like she's mad at the bubble. Even though she's concentrating on the one bubble it might work to not have the image as tightly cropped on the right or use a vertical crop that would include more or the girl.
The subtle colouring adds to the mood. The depth of field is perfect keeping the background from being distracting. |

The Guitaristby timj351Comment: You've caught a good expression on the musician's face. The crop at the top seems a little bit too tight and the grain is uneven. There seems to be too much grain at the top and none at the bottom. 6 |

Mercyby hopperComment: Good skin tone and hightlights in your model's hair. The one finger at the bottom is a bit distracting as are the bright areas in the trees. Catchlight in the eyes is perfect. 7 |
