Collection: Landscapes
Camera: Sony DSC-F707
Location: Logan, Utah USA
Date: Sep 21, 2004
Aperture: f 8.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/80
Galleries: Landscape, Water
Date Uploaded: Sep 21, 2004

This is the Little Bear River in Cache Valley, Utah, which has at this point turned into a shallow marshland. Taken with a wide angle lens.

Processing: I exposed for the water and land, so I selected the sky at the horizon and darkened it. I added some contrast and enhanced the saturation. I then cleaned things up a bit with selective blurring at 1.1 pixels. Cropped and sharpened. Come paddle with me sometime!

This is a very nice landscape. I wonder if I wouldn't have liked it even better if it had been 2/3 sky and 1/3 water. Good job.

Good reflection. I like the texture in the water.

The color and dept of this one is right on. The clouds and reflection is the thing that makes this one great! Great work and good luck! 9

It is a place that I would like to be most of any of the other entries... I could catch & cook dinner and enjoy the show! Excellence!

Nice place, good, clear picture, I love the light patches on the far mountains to the right and the hills to the left. My one little tiny nitpick is the stick in the water (about 2/5ths of the way down on the left side) - my eyes keep going to it, and I wish it weren't there.

Megga! Horizon seems to curve down a little, was it ultra wide angle?
Still a supherb photo. 8.

I really like how the reflection of the two-toned sky runs right down the middle of the channel. Excellent composition/timing.

Beautiful shot. I would just cropped a bit the lower part of the image. The water is relatively too much comparing to the sky. IMO of course.

Good sharpness from foreground to background which works well with this type of image. Nice leading line with the waterway. Zooming slightly to make the mountains more prominent on the horizon or a higher vantage point may provide more impact. The exposure seems bang on. 7

Yes! I think this is the only sky/water photo where the horizon line isn't dead center of the photo. Beautiful!

Beautiful colors here, and the clouds look great. The detail on the water's surface is well captured. Leadng lines of the photo really pull you off into the mountains in the distance.

Nice colours here, the different blues in the sky are reflected well in the water below. Maybe a tighter cropping from the bottom, a little too much water for my liking. 8

Very nice but lacks that "wow" factor. Kind of serene in the same way as the girl that stands off by herself at the dance and never gets asked.

It's a nice shot, and I love the sky and reflections in the water, but it isn't very high on my WOW factor...which doesn't say very much ahaha. I do like it, so thank you!

A lovely and striking image with vibrant color. The blue reflection carries its charm even further. Of course, such images are more appreciated in print form because there is a limitation and many fine nuances are lost in the cyber space. This is a bright scene and possibly the best landscape in this challenge because it imparts a sense of serenity and peace. Bumping up.

This is a great landscape. I like almost everything about this, especially the long sightlines with noe smoke, haze, or humidity. Look forward to reading your notes.

Great view, and nice sky, but there's not enough detail to keep my eye in the frame for long. The shot needs something else to keep the interest. 6

Good use of leading lines with the edges of the plants to point me towards the center of the photo. Then I see the mountain and the sky with the fluffy clouds. I also like the pattern of the water and how it reflects the sky and clouds. Overall, it looks like there is some CA or oversharpening. If it's CA, then it can't be helped. I notice it especially in the clouds in the upper left near the bright area and in the lower left corner of the water. Very nice landscape study! 7

This just simply just a beautiful landscape shot. The DOF, positioning and nature's elements come together to make a picture that is a pleasure to look at. Well done.

This is beautiful. I love the blue color of the water, and the reflections of the banks in the water. The sky is great -- nice pretty clouds, which can be hard to catch sometimes. I gave this one an 8

What can you say when you have such wondeful light and scenic to match? The clouds really pop out and the color is outstanding (must be polarized). The deep DOF is very good as well, but would have been really brought out had there been some kind of subject matter to focus on, such as, a boat in the water, or fowl floating along. Still, a wonderful photograph. 9

Good patterns. The water is very refreshing...probably because of its smoothness. Beautiful. Should be in the top 10!

This is a very nice photo of a nice looking location, but there is too much empty space in my opinion. The bottom and the right of the shot don't really add anything. I would have taken a square crop from the top-left, as thats where it's all happening, with the clouds, mountains, and grass converging. That would have had much more impact I think. 6

I think this shot suffered from a lack of a decent focal point. The image seems a little washed out, the lighting isn't extremely strong, and there's just no real interest. Perhaps if you'd waited for some wildlife (birds, et al), or maybe tried to find an interesting combination of marsh islands to give the photograph some centering, it would have worked better. Also, high horizon lines tend not to be as strong as they are when lower, in my experience. Anyway, keep working on things, I hope you get a lot of helpful comments, and good luck in the future :)
