Yes, that's the downside of this magnification level - it's almost impossible to get a large DOF. I want a larger DOF! One way would be to replace the photons by electrons... Or, possibly scan the depth of the image with a thin line of light. I know that the old-school scientific macro guru Lennart Nilsson sometimes does this. If you want to get some inspiration for fantastic macro - check out his web site //www.lennartnilsson.com. |

SH100100-Edit.jpgby ZeppKashComment: Is that one of the tennis-balls "of fame" that your dog Remy had in his mouth on your recent blue ribbon shot? |

Day 1: Falling sugar crystalsby johst582Comment: Good - the yellow highlights shouldn't be visible :) That's only how I set up ACR to to "counteract" the blue of the shadows-settings, so that the highlights still would look white. I can see this difference on my main monitor and on my work PC, but my laptop's screen is so far away from being properly calibrated that I cannot see a difference in hue between the highlights and the shadows.
Originally posted by Caroline69: This is amazing! I just love how dynamic this shot is. Even before I read your comment, I could sense the movement of the crystals. I think the choice of deep blue for the shadows was a good one. The yellow highlights are too subtle for me to pick but I really don't care because I like it just the way it is. |

Rich Velvet Spores - Day 2 by sherpetComment: Very good, but I liked the first one even better! On day 1, you showed off the beautiful texture on the front of the leaf as well. This day2 pic is more abstract, and I would probably guess that it was a piece of leather if I didn't already know ... |

Falling Water dropsby ShutterPugComment: Wow, now I want to do that too! But my lenses are too short and my house not weather sealed - too risky :(
I'm surprised that the refractions in the background are that sharp. Did you perhaps focus a bit behind the water drops? |

Mar 01.jpgby Mr_PantsComment: I really like the crispyness of the texture on the in-focus flower to the lower left - and what a wonderful softness of the bokeh - must be a great lens! |

Day 1 - Penny for 'emby taljComment: Yeah, nice negative space. And I agree, macro DOF is a major pain in the butt! Stop down to the max and make sure that you come in exactly at 90 degrees flat :) |

Day 1 - Seedsby kteachComment: I like the diagonal flow and contrasting colors - yellow/brown puffball against the *yellow-less* photo! :) There is some noticeable noise in the darker areas, but it doesn't disturb. |

Day 1- by LMA128Comment: Great sharpness, now I know why those seeds so easily stick to things!
And it's great to see how DPC'ers from around the world take pictures from different seasons - we certainly have no dandelions up here yet... |
