Challenge: Black and White in Color II (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon NIKKOR AF-S DX VR 55-200 f4-5.6 G IF-ED
Location: Göteborg, Sweden
Date: Feb 24, 2008
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/50s
Galleries: Abstract, Macro
Date Uploaded: Feb 23, 2008

Shot with my 50 mm f1.8 lens mounted in reverse in front of the 55-200 zoom @ 90 mm. (it's a closeup of my laptop's LCD)

The title, of course, is a reference to The Matrix' "There is no spoon".

Post-challenge:

Well, I knew that this would not score very well. If you want to score well on DPC, I guess you have to please the eye-candy-lovers and not do anything that voters may consider DNMC.

What I was hoping for was some positive feedback from the few broadminded, creative folks here at DPC. And that I did, so I'm happy - thanks for all the cheers!

Too damned clever by half. More than half, judging by the voters' reactions.
An OOBIE nomination is a little oddball feather in your cap, even if your name isn't pulled out of the envelope. You get my vote.
Damn. I think maybe this is the most literal use of 'black and white in colour' that I've ever seen. heh.

An Oobie is an informal award given for an entry that is OOB (out of the box, meaning not your typical take on the challenge). this image certainly qualifies for that! well done!

Pardon me, but what does "oobied" mean?

I was one of the three.

This image was far underrated, showing a brilliant use of color and greyscale to exemplify what the challenge REALLY meant to me. Use color to spotlight a black and white subject. Perhaps the reverse of that (using black and white with a colorized main focal point) is what forced so many to hammer this image.

I'm thinking it should be oobie'd.

People so missed this shot, this was pure genius. A 4.04, lmao!! You were robbed man and if you don't get the Obbie for this then no one should get it.

Wow, very creative. The beauty behind this shot is if you step across the room and look at this or cross your eyes it really is gray. You get a ten from me as I can't image how you get more "black and white in color than this", awsome job!

an educational and metachallengical photo. Defines the cahllenge in a clever way for sure. I stepped back 9 ft or so to reveal a grey image. Gotta give a 10 for brilliance here.

I feel the spirit of this challenge was to recreate a b&w image, that being said im not a big fan of this shot, I find it difficult to look at, the composition is not doing anything for me either.

Brilliant concept. Funny. My first inclination was to give it a low score because it's obviously not black and white -- but that's the sheer beauty of it. It is definitely black and white in color. Intellectual photography. Gotta' love it. :-)
