Chasing the windby John WhiteComment: I love sailing.. this brings back good memories for me. The diagonals here really create a sense of dymanism and movement. I almost feel as if I'm on the boat. The sky is a bit over-exposed but you capture the detail on the waves, rigging, and sail instead. Good job! 10 |

Water Godby FiverComment: Greets from the Critque Club:
Hi there Fiver!
Initial Impression:
Colorful, A bit too processed for my tastes.
Challenge:
Certainly meets the challenge
Compostion:
This is rather weak in my opinion, but I'm not sure there's much you could do to improve it. For your subject and the surroundings it's decent. Maybe some clouds in the sky would have helped add some interest to the photo.. Not sure really.
Technical/Post-Processing:
This was the first thing I noticed about this pic.. The colors are very vivid and sharp, making the subject look fake. From your comments I can see that's what you intended and you succeeded well. However, from a score standpoint really manipulated photos tend not to do well here.
Overall:
Good job in achieving the affect you desired! Good luck in future challenges and don't let low scores stop you from developing your style.

The Four Elementsby dacrazyrnComment: This is great work.. It looks almost unreal! The only thing that bothers me is the hill on the right side looks a bit washed out. Easily fixable out side the challenge... good score for you! |

:()Hby EJComment: Too bad about the powerlines! It also looks like the horizon is tilted a little bit to the left. Other than those things, this is really really great shot. The contrasts are wonderful and the scenery is amazing. |

Waiting for Weatherby dsidwellComment: Hmmm.. this looks very similar to an idea I had. Good shot! Only change I would have made would be to have the subject looking at his watch. |

After the stormby marboComment: Heh.. I thought of this but didn't go down to take it. Horizon is a bit skewed, but good shot otherwise. |

Late afternoonby Stephen CleggComment: I'm not exactly sure what you were trying to show here, but it's especially uninteresting. Add to that bad compression artifacts and you get a low score.. Better luck next time! |

Symmetrical Courthouse Towerby MustbelostComment: Greets from the Critique Club:
Initial Impression:
Simple, Effective, lacks "something".
Challenge:
This meets the challenge perfectly.
Composition:
This is both the strength and the downfall of this pic in my view. On one hand, the composition makes the symmetery perfectly obvious, but on the other it makes it a little bit boring. Including more of the sky, both on the sides and the top, might have made the photo a bit more interesting. I really like the illusion that's created by the symmetry - it makes the viewer feel as if the tower has no depth to it. I also really like the little bit of red on the windows, it serves as a counter-balance to the blue skies.
Camera/Post-Processing:
Nothing noticibly wrong here, which means it was well done!
Overall:
This photo has grown on me as I look at it longer... I still think it lacks the much cited "wow" factor, but it's a very nice picture none-the-less. Good job!
