Layers, the foreground and the background, and how to use them in a limited style are what I learn from your picture. Humour too. ;=)

Simple composition, accurate focus, suitable depth of field, and a creative eye yields a beautiful result, is what I am reminded by your photo. Selecting a good specimen for close up work is also essential (as you did). Better improve my standards via experimentation is also what I learn from this picture.

I know nothing about Pentax cameras. But I would be tempted to put the white balance on tungsten. Then, if need be, use noise reduction software on red or blue or both channels. I would expose one image for the moon and another for the landscape then merge the two without using HDR software. Using photoshop layers and erasing as necessary is just as good, IMO, and gives you total control over the feeling and look of your image.

A moment in time, that choice which depends on a physical reflex, the lens on the camera, and pre-determined settings. Fundamentals which can reveal an image but which have many variable results. These are the things I think of when viewing your photo.

inquire is a tool you remind me of in your photo. Lines leading into the image and a face turned to inquire. Literal language in a visual setting.

Space is what I learn about with your photo. The eye can roam at will, can be guided, can be lost and found. Space is an interesting tool.

The moment past, is what I learn from your photo. Age, antiquity, remembrances, nostalgia are all tools to use. Tomorrow is long gone. Last week does not exist.

I learn much from your photos in the past. In this one I learn of a certain playful spirit, a certain humour. It is an arty design, yet a look will reveal that the bird is aloft rather than flying low. They eye often reveals these truths to the viewer, but the brain does not recognize what the eye is saying. Humour is a tool, sincerity is also a tool, are things that I consider when viewing your photo.
