Last Goodbyeby arnitComment: Very interesting use of DOF... I like it, you'll prolly get a lot of comments like, why is the front and the back blurry? hehehe... Excellent composition, love the black background, good lighting... I'll go for a 10 for this one... Nice job! |

Spring Surprise - where's my red tulips?by BJComment: The lighting here is kind of akward, you have the very lit subject... and then the darker subject... I don't care for that. I think it might have been better if you had a different DOF, maybe gotten down and focused on the well lit subject with the dark ones sort of out of focus in the background? Just an idea... good focus though... glad you used three. I don't think there was a need for a border here... and especially not a purple one, but I'm not big on borders.

Tropical Flowerby StevePaxComment: To me the subject does not take up enough of the photo, and the brightness of the upper left hand corner detracts from the subject. I would have tried cropping tighter. Also the subject is very centered, and kind of boring as it mixes in with the rest of the photo... Just for fun try some different crops. It's not a bad photo, it just needs to be played around with a bit more. |

Bluebellsby mbardeenComment: Great use of contrasting colors to make your flowers pop out. I like your use of DOF here... Unfotunately the photo looks rather centered to me... I would have made this a vertical pic... which would also have gotten rid of the distracting white (flower?) thing in the right hand corner. Watch where the lighting is falling... |

3-D Botanyby dsidwellComment: I think you didn't read the rules clearly that states you can't put in extra words and you can't do spot editing. If this was done in camera, then I apologize for that statement. I guess I'm not very big on the lightness of parts and the brightness of others.. sorry. |

Looking down from the floraby mzanoniComment: Looking down... new perspective... good thinking out of the box!! Interesting... though the trunks lead your eye straight to the center and then just kind of stop. None of the lines seem to lead to any of the others. Compositionally it's not very strong, but since you didn't do just a straight on shot you get a few extra points. |

cherry blossoms illuminated at the time of festivalby kenboComment: Hmmm... whats with your sky? It looks to me like this is a case of having a dark photo and lightening it in photoshop... is this what happened? Pretty nice composition... and good reflection. Careful with Post adjustments. |

Deep Purpleby BigSmilesComment: It looks like you tried to crop much too tightly on this photo... it looks really grainy to me. Also for deep purple I think I would have liked maybe a little more color. Good composition though... |

Bloodroot and Shadowby drdab99Comment: Interesting... I love your focus on the flower... and nice putting in the shadow... however the dullness of the dead leaves in the background draws me away from the beauty of the flower. I guess it's also interesting though because it's like white (purity) and black (death) it kind of makes a statement. It's very interestingly composed... hmmm... I think I'll give it a 7. Good luck |

Triumvirate by jmsetzlerComment: Truly beautiful, no distracting background... a crisp clear photo all over (wonderful use of large DOF) Interesting... great colors, all around a perfect shot! I have to take off for that little grey spot though near the bottom... hehehe J/K. I also like your use of broder, the white with the black around it helps define the fine white line around the subject. Absolutely gorgeous. -10- nice job! |
