This flower grows right behind my apartment. It looks kinda like a feather duster to me.

Wow you are in CA, and yet that is a native Australian plant. Although CA is covered in them. God job :)

This hurts my eyes. Looks like a hard flower to focus on. What I see that is the best in focus are the few leaves to the right of the flower. The angle and framing/cropping are ok. I wonder if this might have higher impact though if the flower wasn't dead center. Sometimes it works ok, and sometimes you'd be surprised at how a slight shift makes a world of difference. ~Heather~

Hehe, bottle brushes aren't tropical! I've lived with them all my life and never been in the tropics.

I think the photo is a little busy. A tighter crop could have been better.

Lovely flower! The color seems a little washed, though. Try darker light or just a touch of post-taking processing.

Looks more like a bottle brush bush to me. Nice picture though.

This flower has nice color... I believe that isolating it in some way to make that color stronger against the environment could possible create a better composition and stronger impact... - setzler

Nice deep DOF here, everything is in focus. The main subject is a little too centered not following the rule of thirds.

To me the subject does not take up enough of the photo, and the brightness of the upper left hand corner detracts from the subject. I would have tried cropping tighter. Also the subject is very centered, and kind of boring as it mixes in with the rest of the photo... Just for fun try some different crops. It's not a bad photo, it just needs to be played around with a bit more.
