This shot is probably one of my fav's from your portfolio carter. My husband and I just love old buildings and the oldtime photograph feeling of this image. Your selective desaturation looks perfect on my monitor love the coloring at the apex and roof of the "fawning barn" I would love a print of this if you are going to upload it for prints please let me know.

Carter I would really appreciate if you could share how you achieved the surreal effect in this image. It compliments the image very nicely and I would really like to try this. It really makes this image look like a renissance piece.

Nice job jaywalk. I love the red liquid and the contrast with the white background. I tried doing this a couple months ago got frustrated and gave up maybe time to try again.

Fantastic! Nice job on your balance and detail is amazing. The frame doesn't bother me but it is a bit close to your subject as blackdot said.

Ristyz, this is a beautiful image. I have tried to photograph horses a number of times and I know how difficult it is (they don't seem to want to cooperate with me and stay STILL). Beautiful portrait.

Greetings from the Critique Club,

This is going to be a difficult picture to critique I scored this portrait an 8. This is an absolutely precious moment and a beautiful capture.

Some people might argue that your image might have been stronger using the rules of thirds but I would disagree this is one of those images that is more powerful in my opinion by breaking that rule.

Technically there is nothing to say about this image you did everything dead on right.

The only 2 things I deducted points for where composition and very minor:
1. the border, my dad taught me to KIS Keep it Simple let your work speak for itself. I was suprised not to see this image in the top 20. It is very strong but the border does subtract a bit as the image is so delicate and the border is so harsh.
2. the upper right corner of the image instead of a black fill I think it might be a stronger image with a light color.

But again, this is an excellent image those things are minor - after reviewing your portfolio your challenge entries keep getting stronger with each - I see a ribbon in your future! :) I hope this helps in some small way, best regards. Michele

Greetings from the Critique Club

I am very partial to the color contrast you achieved in your composition. The subtle lines of your background lead the eye directly into the face of your model and the DOF creates a perfect balance between your primary subject and background.

Your image does not appear washed out in the least on my monitor, the skin tone and delicate blush of the cheeks and the deep blue of her eyes all convey the wistful mood of your photograph in what appear perfect lighting conditions.

After viewing some of your other work with this model there are only two things that I might have done differently: Crop; adjust the crop to a slightly tighter crop at the bottom just at the collar bone and expand the image to right just slightly, and Hair; either had her hair off of her right shoulder (on the left side of the image) or perhaps let her hair hang loosely to further enhance the wistful mood and let it softly frame her face.

You have a beautiful subject to work with in Emma her face is so expressive and she has such lovely natural beauty. I hope we have the opportunity to see more of your work with her. Hope this information is helpful in some way - best regards, Michele.
