Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Terrific depth of field use. I completely disagree with Tygerr. I think that the shallow depth of field is one of this one's strengths. I would like to see just a little deeper depth of field, but I do like the bokeh-esque feel that you created.

Lighting: Pretty nice, but that large, white area at the top of the frame is very distracting.

Composition/Content: Nice rules of thirds use, and that works nicely to pull the eye onto the subject.

My Opinion: I think that this one could have been executed better, but even with that, 4.6 is a bit low.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,
Eric

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Nice focus and also very nice color. Your point of view illustrates well exactly what your were looking to convey.

Lighting: I think that the lighting is what cost you the most points here. Maybe a little fill flash at the bottom of the frame would have helped balance that strong light at the top of the frame.

Composition/Content: In one word, cluttered. I agree with the other posters that taking some of the goodies out of the refrigerator would have helped out a bit. As it is, the cleverness of the cans escaping gets lost in the business of the contents.

My Opinion: Comical and very creative, perhaps one of the more creative entries of the challenge. With a little better lighting and a little less business in the fridge, I think that you'd have pulled a better score.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,
Eric

Hey there from the Critique Club

So, 6.7742 and yet another top 10 finish, what could I possibly offer to improve this one? I like the idea, and I like the execution, but I am not a very beg fan of your text. Even still, a very nice score. I wish that in my inferiority I could offer you more in the form of a critique. Nice work, as usual.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Very nice, strong image with some great near-silhouettes. I like your coloring, but that 13 seconds produced some pretty strong ghosting.

Lighting: Overall, the lighting looks a little flat. I guess that it was pretty dark out there, huh? I think a little curves adjustment would have helped out your lighting a bit.

Composition/Content: Your test placement is a bit awkward, but I really like your composition. You have leading lines all over that work to draw the eye in and around the entire image.

My Opinion: This is definitely a stronger image that the score reflected. With better text placement and a little more contrast, I think that this would have scored much better. Even with it as it is, 5.2 is far too low. Darn voters.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: I like your choice of apertures here to create a great depth of field. Your focal point is on the perfect area of the image, and you did a nice job isolating your subject.

Lighting: Also very nice. Everything is nicely and evenly lit. Your lighting also helps isolate the subject, with the background being just a touch darker.

Composition/Content: While I'm no stickler on the 'rules' of photography, I think your subject is a bit too centered for this capture. I am also not a big fan the text you chose.

My Opinion: Nice work meeting the challenge, and a pretty well-done image. A little too centered, but still pretty strong.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,
Eric

Great duotone image. This is one of the better band shots that I have seen in a while. Nice.

Nice, centered composition, but I think the contrast needs a little tweaking. Perhaps a little curves adjustment would help out. I like the way your composition starts pulling the eye up and in from the sidewalk and continuing uninterrupted all the way up to the peaks on the building. Good eye!

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Nicely focused and a very nice depth of field use. I really like the isolated subject that you achieved by using the blurring of your background.

Lighting: I think that you needed a bit better lighting on his head and face to really help bring his features out.

Composition/Content: Shifting your shooting point of view down a bit would have really helped out your composition of this one. I'd like to see his head more toward the top of the frame, as well as the ability to see the rest of his gloved hand that is cropped out of the image.

My Opinion: With a better composition and maybe a little fill flash, I truly believe that your scored would have grown considerably.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,

Hey there from the Critique Club

First off, congrats on a new top score. It's always nice to have a new image sitting there at the front.

Camera Work/Technical: I am pretty sure that the hand and ball are in focus here, but it is really difficult to find the main area of focus. I think this may be because of your lighting.

Lighting: Your subject is a bit too dark. I'd like to see some fill flash added in there to really make that ball and hand pop.

Composition/Content: Well-done. I like the action that you captured here using your composition.

My Opinion: Adding a little more light on your subject would have really helped bring this one to life. As it is, finding your focus is a bit tough.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,
Eric

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Strong focus and great colors. I like the quick shutter speed that you used to capture the stopped motion of the milk. I think that your depth of field needed to change. Either a more shallow or deeper depth of field would have helped this one out. As it is, it just looks like some of your elements are out of focus.

Lighting: You did a nice job achieving an evenly lit area to display your subject(s). There are no blown highlights, nor are there any areas where detail was lost in the shadows.

Composition/Content: I think that you hurt this one by cropping off the hand that is pouring the liquid. It looks more accidental than intentional.

My Opinion: While this one meets the challenge, I don't think that is was readily understandable without your explanation.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,
Eric
