I missed this one when skimming through the entries to comment (but not vote). I'm glad it's presence on the home page alerted me to my loss. It's a beautiful image, lovely lighting, lovely composition, lovely colours and lovely bokeh. Congrats on the ribbon, Ursula!

This definitely evokes the idea of an era gone by. It's quite melancholy in that it also implies that the strengths of that era have been discarded and are no longer cherished. I like the purple flowers and fence. I'm not sure the dark tree line adds to the shot. I'd also love to see this taken during the afternoon when the sun casts a much richer colour of light onto the image.

Nice staged portrait that really conveys a theme. I keep tilting my head when I look at it - I think rotating a touch so that the verticals in the wall are vertical within the frame would help. Composition, lighting and content all work well.

What an interesting shot. I like the rotation and the shallow DOF works well to isolate the main subject. Unfortunately the focus just isn't sharp enough on the main subject to really make her leap out.

Nice picture - I like the positioning of your main subject in the foreground and then the rest of the crowd being part of the background. Glad you didn't opt for too shallow a DOF as you'd lose all that interest from the background. Lighting is too harsh and contrast too high for my preferences.

Nice portrait - great lighting, shallow DOF works well. Although having her looking away does speak "candid" more strongly, I think the shot would be a knock out were she looking straight at you (or seeming to).

Great eye contact. This really captures the essence of a crowd... Not sure the top third of the frame adds much - I like the lower two thirds on it's own far more.

Good composition, splitting screen between main subject and girl behind and I like how, even though shallow DOF does isolate him, you have retained enough detail in the girl that her expression is still visible. Nice detail on his skin, nice close cropping.

This shot really captures the weariness of this individual. I like the way the shallow DOF creates a colourful abstract painting behind him - it contrasts well with his muted demeanor. I think composition would be improved by giving more space infront of him than behind him though I guess current composition could be said to reflect the fact that he's walking away from the lively scene behind him.

She must have been standing as still as a statue for you to capture this as sharply as you have given the length of exposure... I like your composition, with the diagonals providing structure and I really like how you've really conveyed the sense both of a moment in time and of time passing. Very clever!
