Shyby siggiComment: Terrific portrait ... great subject, clever prop, very effective & original pose. It also gives a very clear and appealing view of the subject's character. 8 |

Seaside Nurseryby rox_roxComment: It's gross ... therefore I love it! Actually I like it for other reasons, too. It's very unusual, for one thing. And the family resemblance is striking; all the kids have Dad's eyes. 8 |

Mother and Daughterby FalcComment: Looks spectacular, although I actually feel that the striking setting overpowers the nominative subjects, and makes this a photograph about something else ... light? ... architecture? ... photography? Whatever, it's impossible to overlook, and will do well in the voting. 5 |

Where is dad?by garlicComment: Gone to get fuel for the mower, I hope! Interesting photograph, made especially so by the person (is it mother?) in the background. I like the dark, gothic tones, but not so much the theatrical processing of the sky. 7 |

Growth: Daughter, Wife, Motherby pcodyComment: This is a nice photograph; better than some I've voted higher. It's interesting and visually appealing, and a clever, effective composition. My only problem is that, notwithstanding your efforts to the contrary with your title, it's not about family. At least not to me. The fact that the subject is a member of a family, even if it's YOUR family, doesn't make it an image about family. I might have voted it 8 in another context, but in this one, 6. |

King of the Castleby fifieldComment: Not everyone's idealised family scene, but the unselfconscious, intimate chaos does unmistakably say "family". Not a beautiful image, but effective, and a lot more memorable than most in this challenge. 7 |

Ancient Celtic Rootsby amberComment: Good metaphoric image/idea & good photograph. It's strange; as I look at these tangled roots I can just about see glimpses of people in there, or at least bits of people. Arms, torsos, etc. It's a very organic sort of image. Oh dear, no more whiskey for me tonight. 8 |

Ma And Paby redmoonComment: They look like nice parents to me. A very good, unpretentious photograph that nevertheless reveals something intimate about the character of the subjects; just what a family photograph should be. 8 |
