Full Throttle

wolfComment: Wow, totally shocked this did as well as it did; thank you so much everyone!! Happy with the result given the amazing pics in this challenge. Too many Update button clicks this week for me LOL. Snagged a new score PB.
roz, the Canon R5 AF on full display here + RF 70-200 2.8. The AF is crazy AF, pun intended and the glass is also outstanding. My keeper rate of sharp action shots with my dogs is around 90%. With my old 5Dmkii I'd be lucky at 5-10%. Now my issue is how does the dog look in that tac sharp pic? Which is a good problem to have.
In terms of settings beyond aperture, shutter and ISO, I have back button focus enabled. I have spot focus enabled with initial servo AF Pt set for when tracking starts. This just helps pick up the action from where my AF point is. Animal eye detection is enabled and I am using Case 1 servo AF (multi purpose).
Then in terms of Nova. This was taken on a hike, and I found a pleasing path. Asked her to sit and then I moved down the path and got down on the ground. Released her, but did not do a massive continuous burst. Never works out, too much luck involved. Instead I try to predict her leaps and bounds and press the shutter than. BBF really helps here. Then lots of treats for Nova. Repeated as necessary. I think maybe 4 or 5 runs to get this. I don’t push it much as the dogs prefer the hiking part. But the treats help balance it out :)
Finally having 45mp to play with gives a lot of options in terms with of crop. This pic was snapped as a landscape. But I preferred the portrait view and cropped it that way.
