 the Robber Fly is also called the Assassin Fly ..

this all happened quite quickly .. i heard the robber fly .. they have a distinctive sound .. much like a mosquito only deeper .. saw it land on the lemonade tree .. i had my camera in my hands at the time .. and had set the dimensions on 16x9 as i'd been shooting something else for the macro minimal edit challenge and the 16x9 worked better than any other crop ..

because i was shooting this also for the macro minimal edit challenge i wanted to get the perfect composition in camera .. if it had been for a standard edit i would have composed it with more room to play around with the crop later in photoshop ..

was unfortunate that i had no room to get any other view because of the leaves between me and the robber fly .. i dont like the petal behind its head .. but beggars cant be choosers .. !! ..

when i looked at this on the computer i realized that the crane fly has lost some .. if not all of its legs .. not sure whats happening there .. as typically robber flies catch their prey in mid-air ..

Roz, perhaps all the flaws that you mentioned make this is shot so real. I wish I could see you when you capture all these.

Double blue!! You bug shots are always among my favourites!! Who the heck gave you a 3?! Those outlier votes should be automatically scrubbed during challenge rollover IMOP. You got 9 from me!!
