FaberCastellby john22132Comment: This is an interesting image. I like the refraction on the pencil and the blurred part of the pencil beyond the ice. The effect of the water belowthe ice is lovely. The top shape parallel to the pencil attached to the ice is an interesting shape. I don't quite know what it is (probably more ice) but it's an interesting element (Besides, I don't have to know what's what all the time in order to appreciate it :) Good composition, good lighting, clean and strong image. 8 Journey |

Pencil-Necked Geekby ClubJuggleComment: Whoever did this has a lot of creativity and a great sense of humor. Quite a bit of patience too, I think. Needless to say, this is a fun picture. My only nitpick is to do a bit tighter cropping on the right and the left to reduce the clutter. 8 Journey |

Office Boyby drewmediaComment: This is fun. I don't know exactly what office boys have to do with pencils (pencil pushers?) but hey, don't worry: you are meeting the challenge! Originality: good. Technical: good Composition: all right. Managing the model: good (I like his impish expression). Will revisit this lateron in the week. Journey |

Noneby manoloComment: This is a great image. Very artistic. Love the strong contrast. Particularly love the "lines" that aren't visible anymore, such as at the top finger. A great example of "less is more". 10 Journey |

Bloomingby puppet10Comment: I see the pencil but don't understand the title. Are you trying to portray the pencil as one of those macro flower shots? The image doesn't grab me though, whatever your intent was. Overall there is too much blurryness for my taste. 5 Journey Update: ignore my previous comment since this image has really been growing on me and like it more and more. Had already raised it to a 7 and now make it a 9 Journey Over the week this image has really been growing to me. I love the pencil presented as a flower shot. Great dof. 10 Journey |

Being of Sound Mind and Shell...by KazComment: Technically a very clean, sharp image. The idea is original and fun. Two nitpicks: would have liked to see the top of the pencil less blurred because it is fairly upfront in the picture. The other is I wonder why the right claw has yellow tape; it spoils the effect a little of this being a "normal, natural" shell fish writing his testament en route to the skillet. 8 Journey |

Utilitarianby indigo997Comment: Since the pencils are sorta key to this challenge they should have been highlighted rather than being so obscured by darkness. I also don't like those two diagonal lines on the model's back; it makes it look, to me at least, like she had been engaged in some SM ritual. Don't know whether this was caused by the light or something else. The shadows also obscure the left side of the model in a somewhat awkward way. The lights and darks would have worked much better if the model's back would have been turned more at an angle from the camera. Journey |

I'm positive it's #2 officer!by dpatteeComment: Very original. I like it! Wish there would have also been a reflection of the other 3 pencils. Technically a good, clean shot. Will revisit later. Journey |

Sigh...by lisaeComment: I really adore this playful image. You have a good imagination and a fine sense of humor. Thanks to you I really see that red pencil as a living human being who dreams about being in Hawaii and escaping the regimented life. I like the placement of the little pencils; the blue background (drawn by you I presume) makes for a nice little touch. Good light. I really appreciate this. You know I have gone through all the pictures and voted on all of them and I see a lot of pencils doing all sorts of things but often the context doesn't make much sense. Here you, however, has created a nice pencil life. Great job. 8 Journey |
