Really Great. (Running out of steam for commenting - so being brief) great idea, composition, lighting, color, dof - all great for this image! I can see a lot of time, effort and skill in this image. Great work 9

Weird and wonderful. I really like the black curve at the lower right and how it balances with the black background at top left. I like the angle, I like the text and I like the DOF.
And it's yellow. :)

this is a beautiful effect.

Great effect. Looks like it was done in a glass or some kind of curved glass. I like how you have the soft focus on the word "soft" lol Pretty neat. The lighting is great. I wonder why there is a green outline. was is something to do with the way you acchieved the curved "blooming" look? Not complaining, just curious. Actually, I think it adds to the photo by giving it an edge so the yellow doesn't just fall into the black background. Cool. I like it. Good luck with the challenge.

Lens effect? God composition.

interesting perspective - I think you were going for that soft blur-distorted abstract look with a sharp focus at the lower left ROT but, my experience here is that abstract is not readily understood here. I hope you are scoring better than I think you might be.... I'm not sure if I would hang this up anywhere, I think it might lose something in a larger size and become too grainy. It is a good representation of the challenge.... =7 syamjonimi ;'-D

yes it's a macro close-up image, but that's it.... maybe something for a pencil-advertisement?

I realise the effect is intentional, I just dont think it works. 3 -lennier

This is one of the best shots this week. Great sharpness taking into account the distortion. I am curious as to how this was done?

awesome. absolutely love this. i love the way the yellow bleeds down to the lower right hand corner. you have taken a very boring subject and made it interesting to look at good job. 9

I love the curves on the sides of the pencil (particularly the lower one) and the shifting colors in the text at the top.

love the curves and distortion in this - how did you achieve it ? Good, creative abstract

Wow, kind of hard on the eyes, but I gather you got just the effect you were trying for... very interesting and innovative.

Very nice effect, I like it.

I see the pencil but don't understand the title. Are you trying to portray the pencil as one of those macro flower shots? The image doesn't grab me though, whatever your intent was. Overall there is too much blurryness for my taste. 5 Journey
Update: ignore my previous comment since this image has really been growing on me and like it more and more. Had already raised it to a 7 and now make it a 9 Journey
Over the week this image has really been growing to me. I love the pencil presented as a flower shot. Great dof. 10 Journey

I'm new to this and would love to know how you did this one. I find it interesting and very appealing considering the subject of this contest. Spiller

Matches the category and resembles the rings of Saturn. Interesting perspective.

Not sure about the title, but the photo is original. 7
